Hi All,

Just found this forum and had to join.

I currently drive a 2011 JCW, which I love.

I placed my order for the F56 Cooper S on the 28th of April, with an estimated delivery date of 20th July.

Here's hoping the build issues have all been sorted out..........

I've gone for midnight black, with black 17 inch wheels, chrome inside & out, loads of extras, heated seats/windscreen (essential for the UK), the essential chilli pack, HUD, Driving assistant & parking assistant (I love gadgets), Media Pack XL, folding/dimming mirrors etc.

Can't wait to get my F56, but it will be sad to say goodbye to my JCW (wish I could afford to keep both).

My current JCW is black & chrome and I think it looks superb (when it's clean).

I look forward to getting to know some of you and being a frequent poster to the forum.

I've asked to join the 'I want my Mini Cooper' group on Facebook & am also a member of the 'Mini Owners Group' on Facebook

Thanks!

I think I'll be spending a fair bit of time here!

I can't wait to get my new car, but I guess I just have to wait like everyone else.

I feel for those who ordered diesel models!

I visited my dealer the other day and this time he actually admitted there had been a problem with the diesel engines. The line before was always "they're so popular there's a long wait" :) But now the news is out there...

He said there's an upper mileage limit for their demonstrators and then they have to go back to the factory. Apparently the engine gets noisier and starts "sounding like a transit van", but when I asked it hadn't been a problem with any of their diesels (yet).

He also told me that all test cars from the launch (driven by journalists etc) can't be sold and end up getting crushed. They can't re-use any part of the car...

Hi There Washy,

I'm glad you love your new MCS!

I've seen a couple in midnight black now, and they look stunning.

I just emailed my dealer to enquire what stage my order is at.......hoping it's moved forward slightly (well we can hope).

I've heard that there are some delays to cars with the HK stereo option, which I added to mine. I've always wanted an HK stereo, so this will be the first Mini I've had with it fitted.

This will be my 4th! In the mean time I'm still loving my JCW. Fantastic car, not had a single issue with it.

Hi MintMark,

It seems such a waste to crush the cars used by the journalists, though I'm guessing they've been pushed to the limit since day one.

Still seems wrong to crush them though.

I've heard a number of people are having new engines fitted into their diesel cars due to the issues with them.....

Mine was good too it was great fun I still miss it from time to time. Our F56 has a lot of toys on it too and Mrs W (who's car it actually is) loves the HUD and the HK in particular.
Hate to admit it, but the F56 is our 8th MINI:eek:

I think I may actually shed a tear when I part with my JCW.

I always wanted a JCW, and I hadn't intended to buy an F56.

When the JCW went in for it's first MOT, I had a voucher for a half price MOT with Sytner, and their nearest service department is about an hour's drive away. I booked it in, arranged to drop it off the day before. I was working in the afternoon and worked out how long it would take to get to work from the dealership. As it turned out, it was one of those very rare days when there was very little traffic on the road & I arrived at the dealership with an hour to spare, so I decided to test drive the F56........4 days later I signed up for one.

I shouldn't have taken that test drive.......

I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Everyone I've spoken too has said how much they love their new cars.

It's great that Mrs W allows you to drive it from time to time! LOL.

I don't think I've ever had to wait more than 6 weeks for a new car and the waiting is killing me. If it gets too bad, I just get the JCW out and then I realise the waiting isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. At least I agreed a trade in price on the JCW, which is fixed, so every payment I make on it is going towards the deposit on the new one!

She does let me have a go occasionally. :D
I have endured long waits in the past 8 months for a Boxster S and a year for a BMW M3 so got used to it. Our F56 actually turned up early so we ended up with three cars for a while.

We have been fortunate to have some cool cars over the years, but this is the first time I have seen Mrs W so besotted with a car, so it must be good.

I couldn't imagine having to wait a whole year for a new car!

It's great to hear that Mrs W loves her car. You obviously made the right move by getting your order in nice and early.

I sent an email to my dealer earlier, asking for an update. The sales rep has read the email, but hasn't responded yet. I'm sure she'll reply later.....it would be great to be told it's gone into production, but I won't hold my breath!

I think you me and Washy should start our own exclusive club - F56 MCS following previous ownership of an R56 JCW. I'd be interested to hear your comparisons of both vehicles when your new car arrives.

BTW welcome to the forum

Hi Andy. I too currently have a JCW (2009) and I too have ordered a black R56, nearly identical spec too, but I ditched the exterior chrome. Mine due end June. This will be my 5th mini (first two were classic minis). Had all sorts in between - just keep coming back to the mini!

I think that's a great idea. On paper the new MCS has very similar performance to the R56 JCW. 2 mph slower top speed (not that we ever drive that fast) and only half a second slower to 60.....would we even notice that.

I know when I took the F56 for a test drive, I didn't feel it was as responsive as my JCW...but I was also aware that it was a test drive and I probably wasn't driving it the way I would my own car.

Thanks for the welcome!

Anne, I think this will be my 6th. My first car was a 1963 Mini, then I had a 1968 Riley Elf (I class it as a Mini), then an R53, R56MCS & my current R56 JCW.

I wouldn't drive anything else. I seriously considered a Fiesta ST, but I wouldn't enjoy it as much as a Mini!

thats because auto journos have a particularly nasty breed of contagious dreck that is impossible to scourge the interior of! Trust me I'm a doctor ;)

Welcome to the show, congrats on the order. I see you've already met the inmates ;)

LOL.

You have such a great way with words. At least now I understand why the cars are being crushed!

I have met some of the inmates, I think I'm going to enjoy my time here.

I didn't add the rear view camera. I have the parking assistant, and the rear sensors on my current Mini are fairly good. I think the rear camera is a gadget too far for me.......but now that you've put the idea in my head........
