Hello All,
I've just placed an order for a 5-door MCS (F55). It'll be the first car I've owned for nearly 20 years, and the first car I've ever bought new - so I'm very excited. My dealer says it'll take "3 months at the outside", but somehow I think he's being a tad optimistic (it'll be at least a month in transit). I'll be very happy if I get it by Christmas!

I've been thinking about "the car" for a good few months now and very nearly bought a Mercedes A250 Sport (lovely-looking from the outside, but I didn't like the interior and it seemed the running costs would be high). I was also toying with the idea of an Audi A3, but then test drove the new MCS (F56) last month and knew instantly that this was the car for me. My only concern was rear passenger legroom and trunk space, so was very pleased when I heard about the 5-door. I learned to drive and passed my test in a Mini Cooper (Bath, UK, 1983!), so very happy all round.

My 5-door MCS will be an automatic, in British Racing Green with the 16" "Victory" wheels in black. I went with the white roof and black bonnet stripes - a little unorthodox, perhaps, but it works for me! In terms of spec, it's maybe quicker to mention what I didn't get. I didn't opt for the sun roof, didn't go for the full 'parking assist' package, and didn't invest in the Harman Kardon audio (I'm sure it's great, but expensive, I thought, and the standard set up seemed 'good enough'). I also went with the leather/cloth mix sports seats (no heater) rather than the full leather. Apart from that, I ticked just about every box there was, including JCW sports steering wheel with Sports A/T transmission. Very much looking forward to driving my new Mini!

Had some great news this morning. It's been 6 weeks since I ordered by F55 MCS and I thought I'd call the dealer to see if everything was on schedule for an end-of-November delivery. He was able to give me the chassis number so I could check on the production details at the BMW site. I was amazed to discover that after placing the order in Japan on Sept 1 we got a production date in Oxford of Sept 12, just a week-and-a-half later! The car is on a ship and heading our way earlier than expected: looking at mid-November for collection now. Whoopie!
