Now that explains something that I discovered last night driving home when the lights came on automatically due to rain. I was admiring the LEDs reflection on the back door of a Black Countryman and noticed that the top part of the fog lights where also illuminated. I hadn't set them this way and actually put the fog lights on to check, all the LEDs where on and it looked good.

Years ago I used to get hassled by the police for driving with fog lights on (they were actually fog lights), and I just hope some police person with nothing better to do doesn't mistake these driving lights as fog lights.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies.

Having had a chance to play I have discovered :-

If you have the lights set on Auto the side lights, as in top half of fog lights don't light up.they only come on if you press the Fog light button....but of course, so do the fog lights.

If the lights are on the off position and you go to side light position the side light come on,as in top part only of the fog lights, but the daylight running lights don't???? Only when you turn the dip beam on then the daylight running lights come on.

The mini guru in the dealer is looking into whether the daylight running lights can be on with the side lights, as that would look cool ?

Anyone know if that can be done?

Cheers :)

Iv asked this question aswell, don't know why the 'Halo' led ring goes off with the side light being on !!!!
DRLs must be switched off at night as they would cause bad glare to other road users (they are noticeable in the daytime by causing glare when it doesn't cause problems).

"But I don't mind causing glare to other people if it makes my car look good" is not the public-spirited answer.

I guess lots of people think DRLs are just a fashion statement and not a light with a purpose.
