Hi all, is anyone having issues with the comfort of the sports seats, I have come from a Nissan which had supportive but softer seats, I am finding the bolsters on my Chilli pack seats are gripping my back so tight it's uncomfortable on my 30 minute journey to and from work, I am even thinking of getting rid of the car because of it and the geniunely unsettled ride. :( I am running the 16's with the standard dampers so not too extreme, do the seats get better in time or is this only going to get worse for me

Really need help here as am falling out of love already......

I at first had some comfort issues with the seats as well but they've broken in a little bit for me now to the point where I'm pretty comfortable. I commute 20-45 minutes each way every day. I have the leatherette seats. I suspect you'll have a hard time getting comfortable because sounds like an issue with the bolstering and not the material softening up. I'm sorry to hear it.

I come from a Bmw E39 with confort seats...
The first kilometers were uncomfortable, especially in the back area, I am a person with 1.78 m and weight 75kg, slim ... I thought to myself that there must be people who just do not fit in the banks!! But this time I feel that seats are somehow extend and comfort starts to be higher.
But it will never be a comfortable seats especially for this car used to upper segments
Will giving news!

Update

Well speaking to the dealer, there is no way to adjust the side bolsters, and my back pain is getting worse the more I drive it so think I will have to change the car. The way it is looking there will be a very little used Cooper D up for sale at a Mini Dealer in Lincolnshire soon... Am going to look at Paceman and Countryman tomorrow to see if they are any more comfortable :( here's hoping as I like the idea of Mini as a brand

Apologies, and bugger!

I thought you could adjust them. He was actually showing me how to adjust the lumbar support. :(

I received a request from J D Power to fill out a new car survey on my MCS. I responded on all questions that I had no problems or concerns except for the sport seats. I find that the bottom cushion is too tight and deep (I am not an overweight person), so much that it causes pain in my leg. I now use a separate cushion on the seat. Not too cool but it is the only thing that solves the problem. In all other respects I like the car too much to give up without a fight.

I think the F56 is the most confortable...the paceman or the countryman (my sister have one) isn't more confortable than the F56....see this pic of the regular seats on F56 ;)

If you could find a Cooper owner with standard seats who would like to change their seats for your sports seats. If you gave them the sports seats it still would be cheaper than selling the car.
I found the sports seat too tight for me so would only buy a Cooper

Kiwi - I find it interesting that you bought a Cooper due to the sport seats in the S. I almost did the same thing. I like the cloth seats which I believe are not available in the Cooper. I might take the car to an auto upholsterer to see if they could modify the driver's seat.

I haven't purchased as waiting for the Cooper convertible for my wife, plus enjoy the Coopers engine sound.

I did buy yesterday a new BMW 116i motor sport 8 speed auto with heaps of extras for less than a standard new Copper S auto.

Update on this matter, Cooper D is definitely going to be traded in, back pain hasn't got any better so will be giving it up in the next week or so, most likely for a Golf, so thanks all for the advice, and the banter I have read, but not really got involved in, hope you all continue to enjoy your cars the way they should be enjoyed :)

O my word! I have just traded my golf in for a countryman cooper s and after one week I am in agony. My back is now in spasm, it has gradually got worse as the week has gone on and I can't bear to drive it anymore. Don't know what I'm going to do. This is the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven in my 26 years of driving. I am worried about trading it in because of the money I will lose but I fear I have no choice. I am so disappointed as I have longed for one of these cars for ages.
