An any of you guys help me with a couple of questions.....

1. I can't find where I can choose to have the speed limit on the HUD display. The demonstrator had it. Going through the options the HUD display has everything checked... I would find that so useful to have on the screen when in the city when the speed limits can change in a blink of an eye!

2. When I got in the car this morning I noticed all my saved radio stations had disappeared and my sat nav had reverted back to 'direction of travel' when I had changed it to perspective. Was that a blip or something to keep an eye on?

3. The 'tech lad' at the dealer said I could allocate the 6 buttons on the stereo to various favourites. I'd find having the trip details page etc as useful to find at the touch of a button rather than trying to navigate the options when I'm driving. Anyone done that?

4. Does split screen stay split all the time?

I'm obviously being too lazy to muddle through this by myself!!

I assume you have the driver assistant pack? If so the option to show the speed limits in the HUD should be in the settings menu for the HUD. At least I think will have to check when Mrs W is back.

Odd that the car forgot your settings as they should be stored on the remote you use.

We use the six buttons to set sat nav for home and work, plus a couple of radio stations and phone numbers.

You can toggle split screen on and off as you wish and display various combinations in the windows.

OK, without a car and from memory after reading the manual...

1. I think you need the driving assistant pack for the speed limit display.
2. Settings are stored in a profile and associated with a keyfob, activated when the car is unlocked. Are you using the other keyfob? I think you can activate a profile through the menus too.
3. I think you hold the button down to assign it... but not sure if it can act as a shortcut to any screen. I think you can touch a button (rather than press it) to see what it does.

That's it... hopefully someone else can be more help... :)

Driver Assistant pack? I have CHILI, MEDIA XL, satnav.

what else is involved with DA? Is that the fancy cruise control? I don't have that.

Have I been duped AGAIN???

I wonder if I had used the spare key then to set up the radio stations, only real explanation for it. But I only go out with MY keys as the front door key is on it........

Ouch Donna - you've been duped again

Speed limit display only comes with the Driving Assistant Pack - something Washy was kind enough to help explain before I came on here...

Therefore if you don't have the pack you won't have the speed limit display - period.

Sorry for that :(

And the automatic full beam... don't forget that! ;)
Oh yes of course had forgotten that.

The collision stuff scares the crap out of me I think it is a bit sensitive and am continually freaked by a load of red warning lights including the LED ring round the centre screen when something gets a bit close...and that included a plastic bag this morning:eek:

So washy, what exactly causes the red warning vehicle to be displayed ? Mine has activated on numerous occasions but seemingly with no rhyme or reason . It doesn't come on, obviously, when I'm in traffic, but can suddenly be displayed if a vehicle, coming in the opposite direction, gets too near to the central white line. It often comes on when travelling along the motorway if I get too close to the vehicle in front - so is it speed dependant ??!!

This is where mini have been pretty poor to get the message across. There are a lot of people who see these videos on line or during a test drive and see all the numbers and alerts shown on the HUD and think that if you spec the HUD you see everything.

I can't remember who I found it out from but I only realised the Driver Assistant pack was pivotal to traffic signs and speeds being displayed. Not good at all.

Oh yes, forgot about that beam business - bonus. Fortunately I've added it.

Can it be retro fitted?

Must admit I find it is a little inconsistent too. I know it uses the camera and sensors and would imagine that it does factor speed into the equation too. Ours goes bonkers when we put the car in the garage...
pffffft....kinda glad I don't have it now :D

back to my questions......still a bit confused.....

The profiles......they just come up on the screen as (----) with a tick next to one....leadsme to believe I 'should' be able to call it something, but I can't see how?

If I used the spare key, and called it such for example, and if the OH set bits for his preference...radio stations, lighting, sat nav/HUD preferences and the like....does it remember the difference? Pretty cool if it does!

and I'm bu**ered if I can get Facebook etc to work! I connected my S4 via a cable and the MINI sees it but I can't seem to be able to do anything......

I'm not usually technophobic .....maybe I am actually getting old......

Hi Donna, I can see info about profiles in the pdf manual in a section called "opening and closing".

It says you can go Settings > Profiles > Options > Rename current profile.

It also says that changes to settings are saved in the active profile. A profile is associated with a key fob. The profile for a key fob is activated when that fob unlocks the car.

Settings include the assignment of programmable memory buttons.

Thanks mini... I'm glad you gave me weeks and weeks (and weeks) to read the manual :|

Awww thanks GoKart, but it's the least I can do. Come to think of it, it's all I can do :)

The manual does seem to be a bit vague... it doesn't list all the menu options for example. And for some things (like navigation) it just refers you to the in car system!.

Do you get a printed manual with the car?
