Media XL SatNav

I love the screen in the middle of the dash, but am I the only one slightly underwhelmed by the actual SatNav part of the system?
No speed limit indicators
No safety camera information
Traffic information option which actually doesn't provide any traffic info worth having?
Even basic off the shelf systems, for less than 100 quid, give you that much. I'd rather have that than 3D imagery which is of very little practical use.
Also, if you use the split screen, and have your hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel, you can't actually see the information you need i.e. how near the next turn is...you have to keep moving your hands.

I think that this package is not available in usa on that name
I like it. Clear directions, zoomable map.

I would like an updated database though....

It's called Active Driving Assistant in the US, but it's the same thing. It's been available for a while, but you have to order it with basically everything else equipped for it to get it so I think a lot of people just don't order it here.
Yes you need t g driving assist pack to get speed limits but we live our sat nav. No rang my wires or unit to remove ,it's there when you need it and it's so far been totally accurate with well timed turns warnings etc, better than our Garmin nuvi.
The Nav is WAY better than the MyFordTouch any day... much better directions and she actually understands what you are trying to say!

I only have had one issue with my Nav Lady that wasn't caused by road construction completely changing the location of the road or me being a doofus. Coming out of a major metropolitan airport, she gave me the following directions: "In 200 feet, bear right, bear left, then bear right...... bear left." I was not amused, but my sister enjoyed her tours of the Pittsburgh International Airport. All three of them...

Also, once she got pretty insistant about avoiding what she insisted was a traffic jam, and she made it quite clear that she will take some extreme measures if required to get you around the problem. I still have no idea where we went and it took us awhile, but we avoided that jam! Still, she always got me where I wanted to go, so hey... who am I to complain?

I like the Media XL system and I like how the directions through the HUD complement the central display.

I'm quite pleased to have left the world of portable systems / mobile phone apps - obviously phone apps benefit from a live internet connection, but I don't miss all the wires and suction pads.

Surprisingly MINI connected hasn't been mentioned so far - if you have an iPhone or android phone, plug them in and you will get real time traffic information.

How do you get the junction info to show n split screen mode? Is it automatic as you come to a junction or do you need to select something?
Pretty sure it's automatic but to be sure when i sat nav pop the controller to the rght to get the sub menu up and specify split screen in settings ( i think)

It should be automatic if you're in split screen mode. I don't remember seeing any setting to the contrary.
