So I am a recent new owner of a F56 MCS 5-door. I previously owned a 12 MCS 2 door. I find that the gas mileage on the 2012 is better for some reason. I noticed that the r56 mileage is better by at least 150 km's per tank(I'm in Canada). Now I also on my new MCS had the motor replaced for a recall so could the difference in mileage be a result of this new motor change?? I noticed that when I fill up that my cost per tank is about 20$ less then the r56. I m just curious if any other fellow owners have had this issue.

It's a very small tank on the F series so it maybe that it's a lot smaller than the R series mini. New engines etc take time to deliver expected MPG as well.
Only way to check is to fill up and manually work it out .

As said fill up at the pumps then do a couple of hundred miles of mixed driving then refill then divide the amout used by mileage covered....

The r56 has a 40L tank and combined mileage of 5.4L/100km which equates to a total distance of 740km. The f56 has a 44L tank and a combined mileage of 5.8L/100km which equates to a total distance of 748km...So although the engine sizes and fuel consumptions are different, the difference in tank sizes more than equates things. So technically you should be getting pretty close to the same mileage...I would say maybe the engine needs to be worked in a bit more...How many kms are on the new engine?

In the USA and Canada the R56 MCS had a 13.2 US gallon tank. The F56 MCS has an 11.6 US gallon tank.

These are the numbers I got from an early MotoringFile article. Sorry about the format, but you can figure it out.

When I picked up my'15 S, I asked the sales manager why they moved the gas filler/door to the other side. He said that the tank was smaller and they moved it one side of the car to accommodate batteries for the hybrid that was to be introduced. I guess not.

Thanks for the updated info...So with those numbers (assuming auto for both) there is a difference of about 38kms per tank (f56 being less)....Most people probably still wouldn't notice much of a difference...Even if it's alot less, the f56 is way more fun ....And totally worth it!
