MINI Connect - MINIMALISM leader board!

7479 Views 17 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  VolcF56
So just thought I'd see if anyone's been connecting their phones and using the MINIMALISM app?

I use it every day as switch to green mode for my commute to work. Kind of enjoying checking my score and what star rating I get!

Currently ranking about 516th with about a weeks worth of trips. Where's everyone else placing so far?

So none of you are using this or check your MINIMALISM rankings??

I'm shocked! Thought there might be a few competitive personalities about on here. Ah well.

I don't pick my car up until Tuesday next week. I've already downloaded all the apps, so looking forward to trying them out!

I do use the minimalism info screen and sometimes the analyser (fish bowl), but I haven't tried any of the mini connected phone integration yet. I will get around to it...

I like the extra info you get in green mode... when it's charging the battery or why the auto start stop didn't stop.

I have windows phone :(
But tried today whith the ipad :D but didnt save nothing :(
havent really played with it yet, its been to hot to sit in the car & fiddle with stuff when not driving
For some reason I found the app works better when you have your music loaded onto the 20gb on board hard drive, if you are dragging music and using the app at the same on the iPhone it prioritises - or that's what I have found so far. Secondly the music quality etc is far better. Great apps though
I've got a samsung galaxy note 2 and it's terrible! Very little on offer for me (until I get the iphone 6). I've got the phone set up - in that I can make calls via the car/bluetooth but it doesn't show messages for some reason - unless I'm doing something wrong.

Also how do you get the fishbowl up?!! I've not seen it yet!

The fish bowl is called minimalism analyser and I think it's only there in green mode. Also, I think it only makes sense for longer journeys.

I've found it only works with the iPhone plugged in via USB and you have to have the Connect app running in the forefront of your phone. If you move away from the app to do anything else, it just stops running.
@MintMark is right as well that it only analyses you in Green Mode. So won't do anything in either of the other modes.

I like it for my commutes to work as I use Green Mode to try and get the most I can from the tank. They can take anything from 30 mins to 1hr depending on traffic :( so it's normally a slow and steady drive anyway.

Other journeys I want to have some more fun driving so switch it up to Sport....but then you get to use the Driving Excitement app to earn XP points ;)

Have I told you all I like gimmicks and gadgets?!

I just tried mini connected and after finally working out how to get it connected (USB accessory mode) I was offered the choice of "News" (a mini related news feed) and "Calendar" (with no appointments).

That's with Android on LG nexus 4. I suspect there would have been more with an iphone.

So... should I have seen minimalism under the connected menu? Or is it a separate app on the phone?
Has anyone got the fish to jump out of the bowl yet?

I didn't know there was any other mode, other than SPORT! lol.

@MintMark I wonder if it's a difference in the android vs iOS versions of Connect. When I go into Mini Connect on my iPhone there's quite a lot of options that show up:

Driving Excitement
MINIMALISM
Dynamic Music
Mission Control
Online search
Web Radio
Facebook
Twitter

although driving today, I was using Driving excitement to earn some XP points and half way through the journey it vanished :-/ wasn't a menu item any more, but after the journey I checked my phone and it's still there.

@Solar_red So far I've only had the fish jump to catch a star, but I've heard people can make it jump out and die if they drive....well....in an excitable manner!

Well this older thread makes more sense now

I hope mini work to improve the support for android... as far as I can tell it is one of the selling points for the f56. I'm looking forward to the "send to car" feature from Google maps.
sorry, but i dont buy a cooper s to be on a greenies leader board... it sort of goes against the grain lol

@Matt fair enough...there's always the XP points on the Driving Excitement app as well ;)

What can I say, I like the gimmicks, bells and whistles, but of course they'll not be to everyone's taste :nerd:
