Hello Everyone,

I traded my Mini Cooper 2011 for the MCS 2015 VO. After a 3 month wait I finally got it last week.

Even though it doesn't feel as "gokarty" as before, I do like the drive much more in this model.

In the first week+ of driving, I have put on a little more than 250km. So far I have mostly driven in Green mode and haven't pushed it more than 105km on the highway. 95% of the time I mostly have been driving city. I still haven't filled up my tank since I took possession but I only have about a quarter tank left.

Also I notice that when I take my foot off the pedal the odometer ranges from 30l/kn to 99.9l/km.

I was wondering if others have experienced the same in the break in period?

Cheers,

Sorry, but I can't really see what your question is?

I too, have a Cooper S with around 600 miles on it now.. I drive it in Sport mode all the time, no point buying a Cooer S and not doing so..:D

My average Fuel consumption in mixed driving is 32 mpg...

Not really fussed, if I am honest. If I wanted economy I would have gone for Diesel.

You will never be able to re-create manufacturers estimated consumption figures..

Regards

The fuel consumption aside, I am wondering if seeing the odometer spike up to 99l/km is normal? Just wondering if I need to have it checked out.
Are you referring to the "instantaneous MPG" reading that shows your current fuel consumption? Every car I've ever driven that had that (including my R56) would go to 99.9 if you were in a closed-throttle coasting configuration. It's perfectly normal, and just means that you are using so little fuel that it cannot compute your instantaneous mileage.

Thanks Uke.

Yes I was referring to the option on the odometer reading of current fuel consumption.

I didn't experience this spike with my base 2011 Cooper, so I was just wondering.

Thanks again!

Hi Kiwi,

They did give me a full tank. That's why I'm surprised that I only have a quarter tank left. I've been driving conservatively so far. It looks like the fuel gauge goes does down every 50km or so.

So far the on-board computer says I am averaging 9.1L/KM, which is similar to what I was getting with my 2011 base cooper. It doesn't feel right in terms of what I'm seeing though, but I'm going to see if it improves.

Cheers,

F56 fuel consumption

Driving my S home from pick-up I averaged 35.6 on the interstate at 70-75mph. My driving at home to and from work has consisted of 33-34-35 and 38 twice. That's with 75% hy and the other in towns x3 with red lights. This is averaged from gas pump to gas pump and mileage. Am more than satisfied with the purchase so far and was worried about the new EPA numbers but I am exceeding those. I have driven in all three modes but mostly in mid and more in sport than green...do like the sport to much and also enjoy the mid. The green does not seem to saave any fuel so will probally not be using it very much.

no am not keen on green mode. Feels so sluggish. Come s alive in sport mode
The best description of Green Mode I have seen was from a review (I think it was Car & Driver)-- I paraphrase: Green Mode is reminiscent of the yawning turbo lag of the 1,000 HP Toyota Supra you created in Gran Turismo. Use it once and you'll probably never revisit it.

LOL

Perfect uke. I d only use it because the fish iis cute or so my daughter says!
I drove a Justa loaner back in October, it had all the bells & whistles. I don't recall seeing a fish on any of the displays. I've read references to "killing the fish" in other posts. Does somebody have a picture of this fish thing? What does it do? Bubbles if you're driving like Grandma? Float upside down if you drive like the rest of us?

If the Minimalism mode is chosen, there is a fish tank with a fish with "metrics" to measure how well you are doing with Acceleration and Anticipation (I found this means don't slam the brakes). Each have 5 stars that you can earn, whereby the fish jumps from the fish bowl and eats a star.

The fish starts off sad and gets happier when you earn more stars. I tried this for several days and the only way to earn these stars is to drive very conservatively. Not fun at all.

I'm back to mid mode. I can post the picture later tonight if you're interested.

By the way, I started this thread because I really wasn't paying attention to my settings. I changed my fuel consumption reading to L/100Km and is now it's the same way I had it in my 2011 and the consumption seems ok.

I got my first "fuel reserve" message this morning so I have to refill, which will be my first. So far the trip odometer reads that I am averaging 10.9L/100KM. I've barely reached a total of 350km on this first round.

Winter is settling in and I will change to snow tires next week, so I'll see how consumption progresses within the next few months of use.

Cheers!
