You can specify Intelligent Emergency Calling, which is a SIM card installed in the car.
You have an SOS button, which you can press to be connected to an operator in the event of an emergency.
The car can also inform the dealer when a service is due, so they can contact you to make arrangements.
The car can also make an emergency call automatically in the event of an accident, and can even let them know the severity.
The other function as I understand it, is that it can also be used to diagnose any problems with the car
