Mini F56 S advice

Hello,

Im looking to buy a Mini cooper S from around 2015 and 2016 but i can use some advice.

In my area i saw a Mini with a manual gearbox 2016 and one with an automatic gearbox 6 + paddles mid 2015.
I have heard that there are some problems with the automatic gearbox, but i cant find a lot of information about it.

Can someone give me some advice about what would be a good choice? The one with manual or automatic?

They are both great in options, only has the automatic a few extra's. H+K sound, JCW styling and front window heater.

Depends to be honest if you love driving-the manual gives you more connection but you could have clutch wear issues and make sure the recall check on the big end bearings has been done-a few cars had the wrong ones fitted and the clutch went! There was a recall or quality enhancement at some point but they'll know the years affected. The auto has of course no clutch wear issues, and very rarely causes issues-just one or two on here as far as I know so both should if well looked after , be reliable. Make sure the b pillar paint wear issue isn't bad or film is applied-check the metal at the door seal below drivers and passenger shoulders!
@jeremybingham So no major issues with the automatic 6 speed gearbox? I have the choice between 2 cars with both around the same price. The automatic one does have more options and 12 months warranty and only 40000km. And the manual one has no warranty with 60000km. Im serious in doubt about it. I wouldn't mind and automatic because it has paddles. Im not asking you to choose for me, but what would you do?

Automatic vs. manual is quite a major difference. In less polite society auto enthusiasts have come to blows over this subject.

If you are truly on the fence regarding the transmission type then of the two cars you are considering buy the best example.

The manual F56 MCS rev-matching is is great fun.

When buying/comparing used cars I've always abided by some advice I was given decades ago, "Buy on condition, not on extra equipment".

Pretty much the same advice I was given. Use car buyers consider price and condition and condition and price above all other things. Colors, options, etc. take a back seat.

That being said some options/features are still quite desirable, in fact at least for me required: For me A/C though I prefer auto climate), cruise control, auto dimming mirrors, intermittent wipers; and the trick is to find a car in good condition and at a good price with the options/features one desires.
The six speed is the reliable old school torque convertor not the dual clutch but both seem ok. One or two issues around but v few.
