Looks like Mini is trying to get costs down and small-ify thei Mini cooper a bit with some help with a foe...

From automobilemag yesterday, they've commented on how Toyota and BMW are looking into a "all-new bargain basement effort that can be integrated in the Mini family. To keep costs and weight at bay, engineers will simultaneously have to focus on de-contenting and downsizing.

The Minor will be one of five new Minis that Peter Schwarzenbauer, board member in charge of Mini, Rolls-Royce, and BMW’s two-wheeled Motorrad division, intends to install as pillars of the brand. "

Can read more about it on Automobilemag - pretty cool!

I probably worked on it.:crying: Did it rust right before the door and front wing/fender?

I also worked on the Wolsely(sp) police car.
Interesting - were you at Longbridge?

No mine didn't rust there, I had it for nearly 40 years from the mid-60s, it did go through three rear subframes, two sets of cills and a new boot floor/battery box :) That first batch were made of a better steel and also a bit lighter than the ones that rusted away at the front.

I used to go into longbridge regularly as a supplier of interior trim for rover. For a young engineer it was proper old school scary shop floor.

Is it just me that hears Superleggera and thinks 'pizza!'

I'm loving this and would probably buy one in a heartbeat (as long as it was fast enough!)

Although I love my F56 I can't help longing for the smaller go-cart feel of the older versions. I do miss that a lot.

Saw this pic a few weeks ago now and thought at the time how great it would be if they released it. I think it would be a really good move for MINI

I loved the Superlegga concept when they put something out about it. I'd seriously consider that. My main hope would be for a small pickup truck, my dream vehicle :D.

Evlkarl, you are completely on the money. I would be happy to have that, minus the red bull can, and repaint.

The proportions on that Minor are spot on...just look at the wheel size in comparison to the body! Awesome! Very sporty and beefy, yet well balanced. BMW should have put wheels & tires on the F56 that are as well-proportioned. Now, given, some of the wheels look better than others, but too many stock wheels look "underwhelmed" compared to the body IMO.
