My car went into "in production" status on 5/18 and a MINI rep gave me my VIN. When I look up the VIN at bimmer.work the production date field shows "0001-01-01". Why is the production date messed up? Does this mean my chassis is not built yet? I thought that the VIN was only available after the build started.

Does bimmer.work query a BMW database somewhere to look up the production date? If so I guess that means the VIN lookup result will be different once the car is built.

I also noticed that the production plant is currently blank.

Vin gets assigned when vehicle goes into production. That bimmer.work stuff showed up for me a few days after it's been built. Give it a few days and try again

You mean bimmer.work showed you all of the customization info about your car but had the plant and production date blank until after production? Or it was all blank until after production?

Interesting. Weird that mine is all populated except for a bogus production date. I'll keep an eye on it.

Same here Jax. It just means that the production has started but not finished yet. Morevover, you can add a 2 days delay between effective end of production and bimmer up date.

another thing : try to decrease your von number until you find a car that has been built (with a proper date). So that you will know how many cars are in line before you :)

Ahaha we are in the same ship :)

I am trying everything.

Another idea : do as I explained and count the number of cars per day = it will give you approx how many days it remains for yours ;)

WHAT is you model ? F56 ?

So the latest built car via the site ends in 05 and mine ends in 19. Without me repeating all the work do you know approximately how
Many cars per day it is and how many days delay bimmer.work has? It seems like it's 2 days delayed (latest car build is 5/21) and only one car per day?

As per my research, if the theory is right they produce approx 20 cars per day (of the same model) - also I notice that the last date is 23/05 (today) so apparently there is no delay...

What is your model ?

Mine is an F55.

I found that the most recent car produced is 2B63805 and that was on 5/21 so I figured there was a 2 day delay. Does incrementing the last 3 digits just show me how many F55s have been produced? I don't know how VINs work and I wasn't paying attention.

Interestingly here's what I found by subtracting from the last car built by changing the last 3 digits of the VIN.

5/19 - 7 cars
5/20 - 2 cars
5/21 - 1 car

So between 1 and 7 cars (F55s?) have been built per day recently. I am 16 off of the latest VIN built. So it could be 3 days or it could be 16 days for me.

Dont know... I just noticed that when a decrease my vin all the cars have same base = manual. I guess that there are other minis produced in the same time but automatic.

Mine is a manual F55. What car is yours? All of the numbers I am looking at appear to be F55s. I just take the last 3 digits and subtract 1 and I keep getting F55s. Does "Transmission: Mech" mean manual? If so I'm getting all manual F55s.

Mine is a F57. Yes the VIN is specific to your model and transmission. :D And yes MECH is manual (mechanic)

I see so maybe less F55s being produced per day than F57s, right? I looked at the last several days (18th, 19th, 20th and 21st) and made an excel sheet to track the # of cars produced each day and how far from my VIN. By my calculations there are 3.5 F55s added each day on average and mine should be ready in 5 days. :)

I added another day in. 9 similar cars were produced on 5/13 which puts the average at 5/day.

I hope we hit another 9 F55 manuals in one day soon because that would speed things up for me a lot! :)

Some days there are 0...

... also have you noticed how often bimmer.work updates? Does it update once a day or periodically throughout the day?
