They've changed the packaging for 2015, and I got mine just before that went into effect, but it's still confusing:

I have the Parking Assist Package (so sensors in the front, too), as well as the Visual Boost XL and given what's required to get the rearview camera, it seemed implied that it was included with the Parking Assist Package, as well as being available as a stand-alone option (although no longer for the 2015 MY). I just never imagined one could order the Park Assist Package WITHOUT the camera -- but one can! :-(

There may be hope for me, however. I've written these guys to see what all is required for a retrofit, but here's a good start:

I know for a fact that I ordered the backup camera and heads up display because after my mini was derived without those, I pitched a fit to where the dealer pulled up the order he sent in and it had those items on it. Somehow they just got skipped over during assembly. I was VERY unhappy and asked that the purchase price be reduced, and then he started arguing with me about how they had actually priced out the vehicle without those items and that if it had actually been built as I wanted then it would have ended up being more expensive than the agreed upon price. It was a debacle. I was furious. To top it off, I was picking it up an hour before leaving with my wife to go on a trip for her 30th birthday. The dealer ended up cutting me a $500 check, but that doesn't wash the bad taste of that experience out of my mouth.

I was one of those who ordered the car expecting to have a back up camera but failed to realize it didn't until I took delivery. Therefore I decided to build my own. Enjoy & good luck.

We only added the back up sensors to our 2015 JCW.
The Mini is so small it's pretty easy to tell where you're going and what's around you.
but I do feel for you, it stinks that you got all the bells & Whistles but are missing the camera.

I found Canadian configuration is so much easier to understand.

There are no visual boost, media XL, chilli pack or what so ever.

We have
- esentials - sun roof, heated seat, fog light
- loaded - sport seat, auto climate, comfort access, armrest, rain sensor w/auto head lamp, onboard computer, auto dimming mirror
- LED
- wired Navigation - navigation, visual display, bluetooth and usb, mini connected, armrest again.
- Visibility - PDC with camera, hud. park assistant is extra cost
- style

You select color, seat, transmission, and packages/options. Drive mode is standard.

I agree, KPRWRKS, the Mini has absolutely great visibility. My backup camera has proven its worth, even so.

There was a time a large truck parked next to me in a parking lot (head in parking). I couldn't see past the truck with my eyes, but the backup camera could see down the row. I was able to see a car coming toward me with the camera long before I could physically see it.

Good luck Darex!

Agreed! But after reading some of the forms, I've been going back to my sales rep to check on features and re-reading the documentation.

On Canada it's not clear if you have the XL display or not and what package it comes with. It's in the Wired Navigation package and it's in the PDF/2015 Line Up booklet.

The one challenge I'm having with the Canada website is that it defaults to the 2015 model when I'm ordering a 2016. Certain things included in 2015 are not included in 2016 packages (like Dynamic Damper Control) which I just asked my rep to add.

I wish I had DDC. I test drove one with DDC and liked it. Then I ordered 2016 model with it, but I found a new 2015 inventory in Sep. that's almost everything I wanted except DDC.

It's been 2 months and absolutely loving it even without DDC. :D

If the wiring is in the loom for the camera, it would be easy enough to change the boot handle as that's where the camera is attached. Ask the dealer if the wiring is in the loom. If it is, then it shouldn't be a big deal to add it on

I would be interested in finding out if the wiring is there too. I just purchased a gently used Coupe R58 that has every bell and whistle, including the Nav screen and parking sensors. But no backup camera. The Coupe doesn't have the visibility that the Hatch does, so I'd like to add the backup camera if possible.

Unfortunately, on the F-series MINIs, the wiring harnesses are all custom and only have connections for the equipment it was specced with. This makes retrofitting features a lot harder.

MINI never had a backup camera option for the 2nd gen MINIs, like your Coupe, so nothing MINI has will work for you. However, there are many aftermarket options that will work for you.
