Hi all,
Advice please.
We are about to purchase a 2015 delivery miles only pre registered cooper. It has chilli pack, mini boost display, anthracite roof lining
And black 17" alloys and privacy glass.
BUT
Exterior wise it's just a bit bland as body colour, mirrors and roof are all the same moonwalk grey.
It just needs a little ooomph visually.
Thinking a red offset stripe bonnet roof and onto the boot and red mirror caps.
Any other ideas?
It's a great price we have been offered it for so really want to go for it otherwise the second choice is a volcanic orange with black roof and door caps
Aaaaargh decisions.

Its marmite colour for me looks fantastic on the Challenge 210 with nice wheels and all other bits , and i like it with black roof and mirror caps, but when we saw a cooper on the road all MG we just did not like it at all and as semi metallic don't go on lights in showroom as miles different out side some models it suits IMHO others not so sure

I agree. The 210 looks very smart.
However we also have a 23 yr old son so insurance wise it has to be the cooper.
Found a moonwalk grey with black roof and door caps but the dealer down south won't go near the figures we want to pay.

I originally wanted one and then someone said it looked like primer! I couldn't live with it after that so a Thunder Grey one for me. Unless you get the dealer to put on some stripes, mirror caps etc to break it up - get the VO one

If you are comfortable with aftermarket paint on the roof, stripes, and mirror caps and the net price makes sense then go for it - the black & grey look is striking. Otherwise, I'd go with the VO.

Not seen mine for nearly a month as working overseas, can't wait to open the garage at the end of the week but, my cooper has the Grey/Black colour line with exterior chrome pack.

I like how it looks but may change most or all of the chrome to black. I specced the black roof but couldn't make my mind up on bonnet stripes and after seeing a few without I went for stripes. Changes the look completely.

Vinyl roof would be an easy job for a fitter and not too expensive if you go for the Grey.

Not sure if it's the acrylic sealant I use on the bodywork but the Grey really changes colour with different light. Hints of blues and greens in there.

To be honest I find nearly all the metallics a bit bland, but then again I would as my cars is volcanic orange!
The only other bright colours are the electric blue and blazing red, however I do like the Moonwalk grey best of the all the metallic as it is different than the usual grey metallics.

Unless you're like me and want The Volcanic Orange, I would go for the moonwalk Grey and personalise it with mirror caps, stripes etc. As has been said elesewhere on here, even if you ordered a car to your own spec, you would probably still have to compromise on what you want to pay for extras and will also wish you had specced something you hadn't such is the choice.

What Opal and Jeremy said. Every single time I open the door to the garage and see my car sitting there I get a happy feeling. It's just such a... happy little car. And it makes me happy to look at and happy to drive. Mission accomplished on that purchase! I may or may not be known to sometimes just open the door from the garage to kitchen just to look at it now and then ha. And there's no mistaking that it's an F56 coming down the road, that's for sure. [And I'm kind of annoyed at the local Mini drivers around town... they don't seem to want to wave or anything. Philistines.]

Decided

Went back to the dealer decided on the VO. Plus the moonwalk grey pre registered had sold 10 minutes earlier. So it's a brand new cooper with chili pack for exactly the same cost.
Now to decide whether to have bonnet stripes or not? Got to let them know whether or not tomorrow - thrown in as part of the deal.
Thanks for the advice
If it had have been the grey then I'd have got a stripe package put on as an after market mini specialist.

Pick it up on Thursday

Congratulations and welcome to the team! As for the stripes, from me it is an emphatic yes. I think the VOs look naked without them, but that's just me. White or black, but I think it's good to break up that vast expanse of orange with something.

That's exactly how my car looks and although I first thought the color was one of the less desirable colors when playing with the configurator, I'm come to love it. It hides the dirt well and looks great when shined up.

I've gotten dozens of complements from people on my car and no one has told me that it would look better if it was red or blue.

Yes! Same here! I've had people that don't even like Minis say they like my car ha.

#1 Comment: Wow! What a great car!
#2 Comment: If that color was on any other car, it wouldn't work... but it's great on this one.
#3 Comment [from my coworker, Stephen]: I can't believe I like your car... and I like it more every time I see it... I hate saying this, but MAN that looks good!

LOL

I wonder how long Mini will keep Volcanic Orange as a colour option. It is after all a colour which may be fashionable this year but perhaps not next. Black, White has remained the same for years, and is a safe colour for resale. If VO is dropped it will date our cars as 2014/15 models.
Having said that I like VO and haven't fallen out with it yet. Its probably one of those colours you either love or hate!
I wonder how many on this forum have VO, seems like quite a lot of members to me!

Thanks guys. BUT the wife doesn't want stripes and it's going to be her car ie she is paying so I'd better not push it.
Maybe a little Union Jack emblem by the indicators................?
Oh another VO in Lancashire now BTW

Start calling her car The Great Pumpkin and see if she starts feeling different about stripes...
