Just wondering what everyone is getting? 47mpg and rising at the minute here

Ok chaps, my last tank (20 miles left) completed 520 miles, where is everyone else on the full tank front?
Ok had my first full fantastic day with my SD yesterday.

Bear in mind mine has 10800 on it (Ex dem.)

Enthusiastic mornings driving bloody brillant - returning 48 ave mpg. >:D

I then went out for a more leisurely drive in the evening 30 mile round trip though a small town managed to get 68mpg average. (LED headlights are good!)

Really pleased with this as it means I should be able to reach the quoted mpg.....if it is attainable now it should get better as the engine does more miles in my experience of other diesels...:nerd:

Finally if you saw the other thread on premium or normal diesel I started, I decided to go for the premium so I was using BP Ultimate.

So pleased - best car I"be owned in so many ways ! :D

Having come from a 2.7 V6 Audi I had high hopes for the SD's mpg and I have not been disappointed.

My daily drive to work is 16 miles of B roads and I easily get over 70mpg.

This is my record...

Getting about 540 miles to a full tank.

Even in sport mode and spirited driving I always get over 45mpg easily. Normal driving seems to get 55mpg and above.

One thing that surprised me is the noise and grunt from the engine. It really sounds great when you accelerate. I wasn't expecting that at all!

Sammy excellent mileage that confirms my findings as a true expectation rather than one off.

Totally agree about the grunt when you wind the engine up - it's great, enough for me to pop up my sunroof to listen to it!
Just for some comparison, my Cooper seems to be averaging around 38mpg with a mixture of sport and mid driving. Improvement on my old fiesta anyway!
Hmmm, think I'm doing something wrong.. I've just been and checked my trip computer (which hasn't been reset since it was new), and over the cars life of a total of 2800 miles (1800 as a demo and 1000 miles by me mainly in slow commuter traffic) it has averaged a total of.. 39.2MPG, D'oh.

Think I need to change my driving style, but I don't think I can, I just can't help myself using the torque as soon as a gap in the traffic opens up, and then at weekends taking it for a 'spirited drive' on the tops. It's addictive and I think I need help, and my wife and kids think I'm now strange and love the car more than them.. D'oh again

Unfortunately mpg will drop massively if you have too much fun all the time!

But hey the great thing for me is that I have a choice. Green 70 miles an hour motorway = 64mpg, or as you say "spirited" probably 45-55 mpg for me at least ;).. loving the car too by the way...

Glad your loving your car too :)

I'm going away this weekend and will be covering around 300 mainly steady motorway miles, so hopefully my mpg will improve a little for this journey.. :)
Broke my record to work the other day. 16 miles of B roads in green mode...

That's impressive...
My best tank is 647 miles I think! I'll have to dig the photo out to prove it ;)

Not going over 60mph or keeping the engine under 2000rpm for the whole tank was soul destroying... had to rinse the next tank to flush the carbon deposits out :D

It's interesting that the official 'Extra Urban' rating for the SD is 78.5mpg, showing that it is possible to match the test economy, if you drive like a saint....

Sorry for the lack of response - couldn't find the snaps for the above :/

Fortunately I'm on another eco-drive nursing the car as it's in for its first service at 19000 miles :D

265 miles in and 410 still left on the range this time! Will update progress soon...

This morning on my drive to work I was stuck behind a pensioner, a lorry and a van with no chance of an overtake. So kept it in 6th gear, green mode and turned the tunes up!

This was the result of the leisurely drive....

wasn't sure i'd ever break the 80mpg mark on my trip to work! Result!!!

Brilliant Sammy - good to know the potential is there! ;)

Hit the magic 700 miles in one tank this morning!

Averaged 71.5mpg for the whole tank and 14 miles left on the range too. :D

Has anyone achieved a higher mpg? I'm absolutely staggered this is possible with a 10 gallon tank!

Hats off to Mini and BMW for building one **** of an 170bhp eco-machine! :D
