New here but not yet a Mini owner... I'm aiming towards a new Mini Clubman S or JCW. I had an Audi A3 sport wagon and then traded up to an Audi A4 sedan a couple of years ago. Now I want to drop back to the smaller format like the A3 sport wagon but currently they can only be bought as the e-tron or S3. So... I've found that the newest Clubman has almost the identical dimensions as my old A3!

I'll be asking a lot of questions of those with newer Minis because I absolutely hate conversing with dealer sales people. I made the mistake a month or so ago of calling a dealer and until I told the guy to back off, I was getting calls and emails almost daily to come in and take a test drive, etc.

Welcome to the forum. I would drive as many Clubman,s as you can auto/manual check the options/colors too see if you like them. Buy the poor sale guy/girl some lunch at a Big Box Store and give it the "Real Life Test" hauling your shopping boxes home.:D I drove the manual Clubby S 2 weeks ago wow what a difference in interior quality to my F56. It is really a nice car and I bet it will give Audi an run for the money.

Firstly welcome along :)

I can only agree with the guys above, try every combination you can.

I was driving a SD ALL4 the other day and mighty impressed.

As Hat said the Countryman will be worth a drive, I'm a fan of the current Countryman and looking forward to seeing the new one.

Hey! Fellow Northwester!

Which dealer are you dealing with? I highly recommend Seattle MINI - I've always had good experiences there and the sales guys know their stuff.

Definitely recommend test driving a couple and getting a feel for them in person. Just be upfront with your timeline and your level of comfort as far as contact frequency and they will usually respect that.

might be worth considering the new countryman as well if you are one of those people who like to have the latest & greatest. this has a few updates being the newest model out that might take your fancy
Keep in mind, the Clubman has the same front passenger space, and the same cargo space with the seats down, but it does have less rear passenger room. It is however, a couple hundred pounds lighter with the same engines - it will feel slower.

looks like you can only spec the S in All4
Both the Clubman and the new F60 Countryman have 4 trims (excluding JCW): Cooper and Cooper S, and Cooper ALL4 and Cooper S ALL4.

Countryman? I've never been enamored by any SUV, including all the newer stubby looking mini-SUV formats now flooding the market. Plus I think the 2016 Clubman has a little more cargo room than the 2016 Countryman. However, I've seen that in 2017, the Countryman will be stretched a little and I might consider that one.

2017 Countryman and the Clubman will have similar cargo room with the seats down, but the Countryman wins for rear passenger room (though both are spacious). Between the Clubman and the 2016 Countryman (which is no longer in production), it's no contest. The Clubman is bigger and sits on a newer platform will all the tech goodies and newer engines.

Read about the new 2017 Countryman here: http://www.motoringfile.com/2016/10/25/world-premier-2017-mini-countryman/

I personally am leaning more towards the more "car-like" Clubman. Most of the utility, less weight.

We're absolutely loving ours and my 14 year old daughter gave the rear seats her total approval last night while streaming goodness knows what on the stereo from my phone(hers is banned ATM!). Much much better than the f56 ,comfier loads more room and i have lights too! But why doesnt the extended light package run to my door elipses? !! The mini light on the floor is so cool!! (I quote but replaces f56 2with jasper and elipses with door thingy,)
