Bummer, I noticed the carpets were damp after a night of rain over the weekend and some streaks of water visible on the left hand side of the passenger footwell.

I have to say my dealer was pretty crap at responding to my issue, seems they are very busy and the fact I have just given them huge amount of cash counts for nothing! The girl on service had a "computer says no" attitude! "Wednesday is the soonest we can have a look and we have no courtesy cars". Soooooo I was on my way down to cause a scene when she called to say they would look at Tuesday morning and a courtesy car was available.

I will report back

Ooh, that's disappointing. Just out of interest, was the car parked on the level? I know of other cars that had issues when parked at an angle on driveways. Still not acceptable though!
Yeah parked on a level, I am pretty sure it is a blocked water drain away from the corner of the windscreen on the passengers side. I will keep you posted. Cheers

So is it today it's getting checked out, or next week? Fingers crossed it's something obvious/easy to fix :)

Just had a call to say the problem has been found and fixed and it sounds like it is just a one off incident rather than a manufacturing fault. As I expected the water that drains from the corner of the wind screen should drain though some piping to exit underneath the car, they discovered this tube wasn't connected so the the water was going wherever it wanted some exiting the car and some entering the car! Sooooooo, car is still in the garage with dryers on making sure it is bone dry. They have also water tested several times.

The dealer was much more professional on the phone today more so than the person I spoke to yesterday.

Fingers crossed he'll be home tmrw .

I guess these 'wee' oversights can happen. Thankfully it was nothing serious and easily remedied. If one of us has the same problem, we know exactly where to start looking before we contact the dealer :)

Just a thought but would it not be a good idea if when dealers find these little problem's, they put it on the dealer network so other dealers could check their minis before letting them go to the customer. This way it would stop customers getting cars with little faults that could be remedied before being handed to the customer.

I was told that my dealer had photographed the fault and sent them to the factory to investigate the cause and prevent future problems with other cars.

Unfortunately dealers don't do that (which I find strange). I had an issue with my radio in my old A1, the dealer replaced the back windscreen, the radio unit and the aerial antenna but still couldn't get it to work and kept the car for 2 weeks. I went on an audi forum and then I told the garage they had to replace the cable...that fixed it. Would have saved a load of time if they just shared info.
