Hi all,

I have just ordered a Mini Cooper 3 door hatch and I'm awaiting news on the build date etc, which apparently will be approx 6 to 7 weeks. I went for a few options.....

British Racing Green
Chili Pack
Media Pack
Interior chrome pack
Expert or chrome pack
Anthracite headliner
Heated seats
Heated windscreen
17" Tentacle spoke alloy wheels
Non-run flat tyres
Piano black interior trim
Black bonnet stripes
Dark tinted rear windows

I can't wait to collect it! I put the order through 10 days ago, is it normal for the dealer to take some time confirming a build slot / delivery date?

Look forward to spending some time on this site!

British racing Green with Black bonnet stripes? wow... It started as my first choice.

It was 2 weeks for my dealer to confirm build slot. So for me was: Order placed, then 2 weeks for the build slot and 2 weeks more (and a couple of days) for arrival. Picked him up yesterday :D Good luck!

I ordered my car on April 16, it showed up on the owners lounge about a week later. My car was built on 4/29 and is currently awaiting transport from Southhampton. I am hopeful that it will get on the boat leaving on 5/9 to head over to Galveston.

I have found that the best resource is your dealer. They have the most up to date information, and they actually know how to use the system. The 1-866-ASK-MINI hotline has been hit or miss in my opinion, as it depends on who answers the line as to the information you will receive. Once you know a estimated build date you can try to figure which boat your car may get on for its journey across the pond.

i agree; dealer will let you know build date etc; don't think we have the owners lounge in the uk anyway! They ought to have been able to estimate a delivery time when you ordered or soon after; more details then follow- in 2014 i had to wait from whit bank holiday till September;guess things are faster now although i am seeing a lot of the new club man on the roads.

Nice one and looking forward to the photos. I used to live in York 1990-93 and run for Rowntress AC - I won the Yorvik 10 mile road race one year. Our house had a tide mark 2 feet up from the floor where the river had flooded one year!

Can't remember how long I waited from ordering mine seemed like ages but I think it was about 6 weeks until I picked it up!, It will be worth the wait though, not too far from York I was there a week or two back at gear4music.

Apologies for the late response, I have been away on holiday for a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the responses!

I had a call from my dealer yesterday who advised there will be a delay in the delivery of my Mini, due to the Japanese earth quake and the resulting supply issues of the XL nav screens.

He mentioned the delivery would have been pushed back to September this year, if his manager hadn't 'pulled strings' with Mini and brought this forward to mid/end of July.

The date still sounds pretty reasonable, from the date of ordering (23rd April) the delivery time will be approx 3 months / 12 weeks. My main concern is that when July comes, the news is that the delivery date will move back further, but there is little I can do about it.

First of all welcome. BRG is a sensational colour which seems strangely rare - shines brightly in the sun, looks deep and mysterious in low light, good at hiding dirt. Bad news with the delay, I guess I was just a lucky boy getting mine 3 weeks after order

That's a shame. Hopefully you'll get it earlier. My wife's JCW convertible with the XL, Tech, teleserives, emergency & Chilli pack stuff is being delivered next Tuesday. Ordered it in mid-March and it went into production mid-April in Born NL. Build sheet of the chassis number link thread says XL and gubbins are all on it.

PS: Seem to remember a nice pub in Poppleton from 1990.

I have had a call from my dealer who confirmed the car will be with the dealer from week commencing the 18th July, all being well. Apparently the salesman I originally dealt with had left their employment, hence there were no responses from queries I had sent them (including confirming whether or not the spec had been updated to include the alloy fibre dash). My order is now being dealt with by the dealer manager, which is a little bit more reassuring given the lack of communication before now. The fibre dash is included too, so I will be getting the door lights, which I'm pleased with!

My only worry is that if I collect the car at the end of July, it will be on a 16 plate, but if I wait another 4-5 weeks, I would secure the car on a 66 plate - potentially better resale value wise?

I may be wrong, especially if the cars value is based on the registration date, rather than the registration plate itself?

The car's value will be based on that great color combo & condition! MINIs are great no matter how old! ;-). Too bad about the poor communication....my MA who is from the UK (I'm in the US) was great! He answered probably 5000 questions! He earned 2 6 packs of his favorite English brew when I picked up my JCW last summer! Please post up pics when your baby arrives!

I ordered my Cooper with XL on 26APR (your order from earlier post 23APR) and I have been told the car will beat the dealer on 20 JUL (your delivery to dealer 18JUL) so we are in tandem. Let's hope they stick to the dates.

It's a problem in the UK where valuation on used cars are based on registration changes done twice a year unlike other countries.

I guess the question is can you wait until September 1st? I personally would get the car and just enjoy having it instead of worrying about depreciation.

New Cooper S

Hi Guys,

Been looking on this forum for a couple of weeks now and found loads of great info. Ordered my Mini Cooper S 2 weeks ago and due to pick it up tomorrow from Williams at Bolton 2nd July. Can't wait and oh my as it been a long one lol.

It's a three door hatch in Melting Silver with Black Cosmos wheels and chilli pack no sat nav as due to having to wait longer due to production issues on Sat nav screen. Hope I don't regret not having it although don't tend to really use them a lot anyhow.

Hope to post pics soon and be a regular on this forum.

I think it all depends built slots dealer may have for uk dealer as my experience was nearly too quick, I barely had enough time to sort things out with old car, insurance etc... My dealer was keen as anything as he had a slot for June.

My JCW was ordered 9th June - built in slot 10 days later and delivered to dealer 28 June so 19 days later. Turn around was scary quick but no sat nav option chosen so may have helped.

Pick up Saturday 2nd July....

Good news! I visited the dealer yesterday to finalise the paperwork and they had a suprise for me, the car has arrived! It looks superb, BRG was definately a good choice! Collecting on Saturday morning, first thing. Can't wait!

As a bonus, the dealer has even swallowed the cost of the upgrade to the Mini Yours fibre alloy dash, which I added shortly after ordering, due to the delays in receiving the car, brilliant!
