I was playing around wih the JCW configurator this morning and realised that there is an extra pack available called "MINI Tech Pack". It includes HNK system, head up display, reversing camera and many more.

This pack is also displayed on Cooper, S & SD however you cant really view the content.

Quite useful pack I reckon.

Looking at the size of the car the reversing camera is not really a must have but I can't really tell since I don't have it. The HUD however is very nice and when you get used to it you kind of miss it when driving in a car without it. I got used looking at my speed on the HUD but even more usefull is the navigation directions and scrolling up and down my music and phone contacts with the buttons on the steering wheel and being able to keep my eyes more or less on the road at the same time. It beats fiddling with the buttons and knobs on the command center and looking at your center display. I could recommend everybody to select the HUD in the option list but that's just my personal opinion.

By the way, the Tech pack doesn't seem to be available in Belgium. Just checked the configurator. For a global brand/model the differences between countries never stop to surprise me.

That's true but the convertible has virtually no glass to see out of. I remember reading on another forum that you are not allowed to sit your driving test if the UK in a MINI convertible, not entirely sure if that is true or not?

Yes, that's correct due to the poor three-quarter visibility. And if they think the Convertible is bad, they should try the Roadster I now have - at Y-junctions, I have to turn it to be at right-angles to the main road, as though I was driving a HGV.

PS showing my age - HGV is now LGV, I think.

I have the HUD and camera on mine and say that I really think they are a good idea and should be made standard inclusions. Although the mini shouldn't need the rear camera, it is such a handy thing and I use it all the time. If it saves you once from reversing into a short pole or even a child, then it has paid for itself.

I have just ordered my new tart's car (F57 convertible) today and some of the pack/price changes are:
- Chili pack is now £3,200, including LED headlamps;
- Adaptive LED headlamps are a £85 extra over 'standard' LED headlamps.

The dealer reckoned the new packs and other changes won't show in the configurator until 'current' builds are at the new prices (ie, sometime in March) - because the car I've ordered won't be built for a few weeks, my order is at the new prices.

i think vis boost is also std in the chilli pack also. how much was chilli previously? its hard to wok out if this is truly additional value or whether these bundles are making people take options that they wouldn't have if they were choosing them individually

I know what you mean - the Chili pack has gone up by £950 (£2,250 to 3,200) whereas LED headlights were 'only' £670. However the cost of my spec has gone down by £235, so something else has changed.

Now I look in detail, the extra cost for 17" wheels has disappeared, so maybe they are now in the Chili pack too.

£3200 for CHILLI pack is a disgrace! It wasn't that long ago that it was half that price.

Much as I love my MINIs the price of them is really getting eye watering.

If I don't get a REALLY good deal on a stock car next time I might well look elsewhere.
