Hey y’all,

Loving the look of the refreshed shifter on the 20+ Clubman and Countryman. Does anyone know if it is possible to retrofit the new stationary shifter into a pre-refresh model?

Thanks!

No, different gearbox.
The Clubman S and ALL4 moved to a 7 speed DCT, but the JCW still retains the 8 speed Aisin AWF8F35, which also utilizes the new stationary electronic shifter. Probably a stretch, but I'd be curious how difficult it would to retrofit the new style shifter in a pre-refresh model.

I stand corrected, I thought they all went to DCT. I wonder why BMW didn't fit it... Only reason I can think of is that the torque converter auto can only handle around 260bhp (flywheel) yet the JCW engine can easily produce 300. by using the old auto, the can limit the tuning. If you want faster auto, then you got to buy a Clubman or GP.

The actual lever would just be a switch would it not? As long as the plug is the same it could probably be coded etc. People have been changing out the BMW shifters on the f30's etc
