Hi All

The OH and I have just taken delivery of a rather fetching white silver MCS. Although a joint purchase, the car will be my OH's daily driver as I use an M135i for daily duties. I love my car but initial impressions of the MCS are that it's much slower yet much more fun to drive! The OH is smitten already as the car replaced a rather garish bright blue Corsa VXR that frequently attracted the wrong sort of attention. Hopefully the classy looks of the MCS will prove to be less antagonistic to the local boy racers.

As the car's true owner isn't nerdy enough to want to chat about it on the Internet to fellow enthusiasts, it falls to me to join the forum. Hopefully, I'll soon be sharing my thoughts on just how stunning white silver looks in different lighting conditions, rather than how the car is popping out of 1st gear... ;)

Welcome to the forum Bradders :)

Your MCS sounds great! Glad you and your other half are enjoying it! That popping sound when you're pulling out of first gear must make you smile every time.

What spec have you got?

Do you have some pictures to share? Would love to see the white silver on a MCS :)

Many thanks for the welcome MB.

The first gear comment was actually a joke about the thread relating to some cars jumping out of 1st gear. Agreed on the actual popping noises though - great fun!

The car isn't mega spec'd up but the line had to be drawn somewhere. We've gone for the CHILI pack, full leather, LED lights, sun protection glass and heated seats. Oh and the obligatory stripes. I didn't want them but was over ruled!

Pics to follow when I get a chance. :D

Not bad spec for a not fully specked car. Nice one fella and welcome onboard

My apologies for not getting the joke first of all!

Sounds like a great spec! Looking forward to seeing some pics :)

Sounds great and what a brilliant combination of cars. I like the silver, as you say it's very different in different lights. Look out for me when i am driving again (badly broken arm, bet Bono recovers faster than me) as am in Lincoln. Vo cooper with black roof wheels and stripes although my graphite winters are on now.

Sorry to hear about your injury woes. I reckon I've seen your car a couple of times on the A46 as there can't be that many VO Coopers of that description in Lincoln?! It was the sight of that (your?) car which made us go for the LED lights. I love VO by the way but wanted something a little stealthier. Hope to see you out and about. ;)

Ha - good point! Hard to be stealthy when your car's shouting, "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!" I've gone from a quiet, black BMW R1100R motorcycle that I called my Stealth Bomber to a VO MC. They may be at extremes in looks, but both are/were a hoot to drive/ride.

Best of luck with your beautiful new baby.

The dual carriageway between Carholme and Skellingthorpe roundabouts. I work off Doddo Road so it was more than likely you. Very striking looking car! Are there ever any meets arranged on this forum? The Z4 forum I use is really active for forum meets and drives etc.

Interesting trade M-M. :) What did you think to the M135i? Mine is a manual which retains a certain amount of driver involvement but it still falls way short of the MCS's fun factor. A very competent weapon on most roads though.

Yes probably me though I am grounded with a badly broken humerus at the mo so can't do anything grrr. If you've seen it in the last 4 weeks oh no there's another!

Yea Bradders, I was worried about regretting the trade, however the ongoing cost of keeping my M135 for the next couple of years (didn't take out a service pack, fuel cost etc) offset me being able to fund two Minis, essentially so that we no longer have to share. We did look at the option of me having a Mini with the second car being a different brand, but the numbers just weren't different overall, so we have a Cooper and an S. I went from an R56 MCS to the M135 as an impulse purchase really - I loved that it was so effortless and understated, but I found I was always stuck in traffic commuting and became really frustrated with slow drivers! So I don't think I used the car to its potential, maybe if it had been manual I would have enjoyed it more. So far I think I'm happier being back in the Mini! It's still early days as it's only been a week or so :)

I haven't taken out the service pack on mine either which was a big mistake. I don't regret going for the manual M135i though, it definitely makes for a more involving drive. Traffic is also pretty light around Lincolnshire, so I get to use the performance enough to justify the running costs. I'm still finding the MCS a lot more fun in the bends though!
