I have made it past step one on the guide and I'm trying to pull the electrical wire connecter from the ring but I can't seem to pull it out with my fingers and I'm afraid to pull too hard and rip the wires out. Some one please help me!

I have changed my gear knob twice now, first to JCW with red stiching and lettering and then to the latest JCW with the short boot and chrome shaft. I had the same problem the first time and used a small pair of pliers to get a good grip of the plug and it popped off no problem. Just be aware that the shift knob may be tight so don't get you face in the way in case it comes off suddenly and gives you a thick lip.
