My dealer has told me that the car has slipped back until 11th August

That will be over four months without any definite build date which is now unacceptable - coupled with the fact that an August build if that, leaves me with a 14 plate close to a 64 plate which again isn't good enough.

I know as many of us do Mini have had problems but this is taking the biscuit.

If it's left in the air and nothing can be confirmed I'm afraid I might have to pull out and rethink what to do next.

Absolutely gutted gutted gutted. :(

So sorry to hear the news, that's terrible. I know it's not something you want to think about but given they've messed you about can they give you a loaner for 3 weeks and register as a 64 plate?

shocking service.

Really sorry to hear that :( I thought we'd turned a corner with a few people getting surprise early deliveries...guess not!

Did they give a reason for the push back? Nothing worse than just being told it's been delayed but not knowing exactly why.

a) I think there should be some kind of compensation
b) If you felt strongly that you'd rather it be a 64 plate, I'd push for that

Morning Folks or afternoon/evening wherever you are...

I've tried to speak to my dealer but she's busy so after that conversation I'll come back and take it from there, but for now:

The significance of the number plate change impacts residual value - well in the UK anyway. Coming close to a change and accepting the prior plate wouldn't make sense financially - I was happily prepared for a two month window but not so close - again it's a dilemma Mini moo has pointed out...

JCinSyd
No build date period - I shall ask that question - it's still all circumstantial - they've said something they can't guarantee.

Milo/Voic/palgt1
No idea - I'm going to have that conversation and let you know

Thanks Washy.

After the fiasco with the Audi A5 ownership I fully accepted that with Mini I might suffer a delay - that I can take this I can't - no car for me is worth the hassle and so if nothing is able to be tied down then I'm pulling out - I'd rather suffer with public transport than suffer like this - In total I've had issues with cars for the previous 2 years running and this isn't helping at all - I will update as soon as the conversation happens.

Oh this is rubbish Monday morning news :( I feel excited 'cos its June and my dealer 'says' mine will be here mid/late June. I have a feeling I'm setting myself up for a disappointment....

its crazy how excited we all get about a car isn't it?

You need to emigrate, order and it'll still arrive quicker........

I could curl up and just be left to hibernate because this is a nightmare....

I've just rang the dealer had a conversation - I've told her it's not on - projected date is now August 19, not August 11 (changed again!!!) and a build date can be given - to which I didn't want to know because obviously shouldn't I have had a build date before the initial projected first week of July?

I've told her that her mention of a slight delay is not a slight delay - it's a major delay - at least 10% extra wait time of a years worth and 40% extra wait time of the projected order/build/delivery time - I'm not Einstein and have never been good at maths but I can see things when I need to see them.

She's going to have a word with her manager - I wouldn't think it's going to be any positive - I mentioned compensation they said they will see what they can do - as my experience knows better I'm not holding out for anything - therefore it has to be substantial for this to work out. If nothing is forthcoming then I'm sorry I'm walking away and well it was never to be - for now anyway...

It's just all so poorly managed and complete lack of communication. I can completely empathise. I've been pushed back 4 weeks so far and wouldn't be surprised if I get a similar call this week to say I've fallen back to August.

I feel a little for the dealerships as it's obviously out of their hands and MINI/the factory are picking and choosing what goes through irrespective of order date.

I think I'd be tempted to do the same and walk away. It just takes the shine off the whole experience and the excitement.

Maybe it's worth side stepping the dealer and contacting MINI directly? I'd like to think they'd give better answers and might be in more of a position to agree compensation? I could be delusional with that idea though!

Have they even tried to give any explanation for the delay?? Is it a petrol or diesel? I can't believe that they think this is acceptable - they should be doing MAJOR proactive work to keep everyone sweet, they don't even seem bothered that they are causing so much grief.

Definitely push for compensation - are you on the fb group? Someone posted there that if the delay means you get the 2015 model, there might even be an increase in price. I'm not saying that to scare you - I'm saying it so you can at least negotiate away from that scenario!!!

As much as I'm excited about my mini I'm not sure I want a car made my an organisation that has such little respect for it's customers. My dealer has been great (as have most) it's the main Mini UK group who just don't seem to care. Granted, this is a nightmare for them to handle - but don't they know how important customer service is????

Really sorry to hear about this :(

How about asking if it's a particular option that is holding things up? Maybe there's something that could be changed to expedite things?

Well, you know we're all hear to listen at least...

I read through my dealer's T&Cs and they have something like 42 days after the estimated delivery date until I can cancel without losing my deposit. Don't know if that varies dealer to dealer...

Evening

Well I was promised a phone call from the manager

Okay I guess he thought I was unavailable

For whatever unknown reason

That's my best tongue in cheek for the day - though I don't expect nothing less - I took on Audi - I found a lot about how they work and for that matter every car dealer network.

Nothing surprises me any more apart from is it really surprising...

Wretched day.

I'm in a similar space. I was due to receive my MINI at the end of May. Then that slipped to mid June then to end of June....and now I can't get a straight answer.

In April when it started slipping I offered to change spec, told them to tell me which colour I can have, even suggested a body coloured roof, the answer I keep getting is it doesn't make any difference orders are dealt with in the order they are received (which sounds complete rubbish based on the posts on here) and if I make any changes I will 'come back out of the queue.'

I've today spoken to MINI UK customer service...according to them the paintshop is closed due to the roof issues, and it has been for over a month. They are claiming the first cars will start to go through from next week!!! No idea whether this is true, sounds a bit implausible given people here are getting cars... I've challenged them with explaining to me why some people are getting cars and what do I have to do to actually get my car out of them....I'm eagerly awaiting their response!

Washy's okay - it's me ;)

I've done a special and phoned around different dealerships late this afternoon - they are all saying that if I order in this week or next they can defo get the car in with a build date end of July/first week of August

I'll take that with a pinch of salt however they were adamant - also that if I want to wait I can have it for the 64 plate.

I don't quite know what's happened here - on top of all this - I've been reassured that Mini Cooper are having NO delays - I repeat Mini Cooper are having NO delays - they are orchestrating back orders but nearly all of them are D's

This is absolutely ridiculous and getting more so as time ticks on.

Hi Bud, sounds like you are being given a very heavy duty run around.
I did 20 years in the trade and to be honest, the sooner they can supply a car and get it registered, the better so I am pretty sure your dealer has made a monumental **** up and simply not ordered your car.
I know it sounds daft but trust me it does happen. They should really be making you a top priority, it ridiculous.
I now only use ONE group and that is the Lovett group as the customer service is second to none. You can even contact the MD at any time of there is an issue and it's really him that looks into it.
The guys I deal with are in Hungerford and are honestly Mustard.
I can introduce you if you like.
This is honestly true, in the past three years I reckon I have dealt with over £1.5m worth of sales and NEVER been disappointed.
Hey, thats why I keep going back!
Let me know if you would like some help.

Cameron
