Hi!

Went to a close by Mini dealer today, just to take a look at the new Mini Cooper since it's a brand I've always liked.

My first brand new car was a Mini One 2010 which was to slow and the seats didn't give enough support. However still a fun car to own despite the lack of power, so I've always had a soft spot for Minis since then. After that I owned a Skoda Superb, then a VW R32 and currently a Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge, which I'm so sick off. Starting to feel really cramped, if you go for journeys longer then 300km (which I do alot since Sweden is a long stretched out country) you feel exhausted and after just 22000 kms it feels like the car has done 5x that. On top off that you have rubbish mileage if you go past 100km/h

Anyway back to me going to the dealers. Tried sitting in a Cooper JCW first since all the other cars they had were occupied. First thing that hit me was how much more spacious it seemed sitting in it, seats were fantastic and most of the previous details that didn't really feel "premium" seemed to have been adressed. It really feels like BMW quality all the way through.

Started to talk to one of the sellers, asking about the new cars and for a test drive. He instantly gave me the keys to a Cooper D since they didn't have a regular Cooper in at the moments and told me to take my time testing it.

I was pleasantly suprised at both the car but especially the engine. Figured it wouldn't be much power in it but the torque was plentiful, didn't have to downshift at all when overtaking. The car itself felt like a much more "mature" car to drive than my previous Mini. Suspension was still stiff but it handled bumps in a much more refined way. Another thing that also struck me was how quiet it was (maybe the old model was as well? I've gotten to used to the fiat).

So I went back and he asked me what I thought about the car, and also if I would want to get my Fiat evaluated for a trade in and also test the Cooper S, which of course noone could resist right? :)

Went out for 40minutes in it and wow, I love that car. Handles good, great comfort even though it's that stiff, plenty of power and the all those burbles and bangs from the exhaust note really brought out my inner child again!

So I went in and somehow a short while after I had signed up for a lease on the cooper S :DHaven't been to fond of the idea to lease before, but due to me being 24 and living in Stockholm the insurance is really high for a Cooper S, and with the lease insurance is included which actually makes it quite a lot cheaper than having a car loan.

Went with a Volcanic Orange Cooper S with black roof and side mirrors, black 17" Cosmos Spoke Black wheels, Chilli package and a few other bits. Didn't go with the big screen in the middle which I think is a beautiful touch, but to much hassle to use.

Will get it in the middle of January, can't wait!

That's brilliant pwngrapy. As you say your description out fee kind grown up and the quality is what tell everyone.
The big screen is actually AMAZINGLY easy to use.don't want to change your mind but there are so many ways to access everything it really is intuitive.when the dealer talked me through it I was totally bamboozled but within 5 mins on the drive at home and I could find everything. I wasnt impressed at the idea initially but it really is the most amazing system. Ivevthe Cooper but same as yours in colour wheels.

Did you go with the standard screen or did you get the upg? Also, mini driving modes and in my opinion the driver assistance package :)

If you mean the screen in the middle for the radio etc, it's the standard one. Mini Driving modes was included in the chili package, wouldn't go without that one! As for driver Assistance Package the only thing from that that I would be interested in is the Cruise Control which I got.

Well as I said I really like the look of it, and I understand why most people on this sit seem to have it. But for me personally it doesn't add anything to the car. Yeah I love the color combo, I've so far had black or silver/grey cars. So it's gonna be nice to have something with color for once :)

Congrats on the new car :) mine is almost identical spec in VO with cosmos wheels and chilli pack, but no Media XL.

Bet you can't wait!
It's gonna be many sleepless nights :D
I decided yesterday to actually buy the car instead of leasing. Cause I know I'm gonna want to do some smaller mods here and there. Also added the rear wing, cause I think that looks great. Also found out they started building my car this afternoon, they move quickly at Mini!

Was informed yesterday that the car has been finished and is waiting on transport to Sweden. Maybe it will show up as an early christmas present? Though I guess they need enough of them ready before they will send a shipment over here. Fingers crossed :)

Yep, unless the dealer is talking rubbish but got no reason to think that :)
What model and spec did you go for?

Nice one, BRG is lovely, would've probably gone for that if I didn't go for VO.
Have you test driven the SD? I only drove the normal Cooper D which suprised me alot performance wise, can imagine the SD is great and it should be faster in "normal" driving on the motorway than the S.
For me it was the noise that decided it for me, that and we got some great small twisty roads on the countryside here in Sweden, gotta keep the car light :D

Yeah I love the VO but the Commander in Chief (wife) veto'd it and honestly the BRG looks great too.

I did test both the S and the SD loved both but the SD won through in the end for me as being a great combination of fun and economy.

Even though its a diesel it goes like a scalded rabbit and I really enjoyed how much torque there was in mid range speeds.

Look forward to seeing pics of yours when you get it.

Picked it up this morning, already put 200 miles on it :D
The thing that's struck me the most today is how comfortable it is for such a small sporty car, especially how quiet it is.
Downfall is it's been snowing these last two days and hovering around 0c so the car is a total mess.
So happy with the purchase so far :)

I used to work in the old Oxford factory in Cowley. Glad I escaped from England - but socialism is creeping up in So Cal.
