Hi!
Went to a close by Mini dealer today, just to take a look at the new Mini Cooper since it's a brand I've always liked.
My first brand new car was a Mini One 2010 which was to slow and the seats didn't give enough support. However still a fun car to own despite the lack of power, so I've always had a soft spot for Minis since then. After that I owned a Skoda Superb, then a VW R32 and currently a Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge, which I'm so sick off. Starting to feel really cramped, if you go for journeys longer then 300km (which I do alot since Sweden is a long stretched out country) you feel exhausted and after just 22000 kms it feels like the car has done 5x that. On top off that you have rubbish mileage if you go past 100km/h
Anyway back to me going to the dealers. Tried sitting in a Cooper JCW first since all the other cars they had were occupied. First thing that hit me was how much more spacious it seemed sitting in it, seats were fantastic and most of the previous details that didn't really feel "premium" seemed to have been adressed. It really feels like BMW quality all the way through.
Started to talk to one of the sellers, asking about the new cars and for a test drive. He instantly gave me the keys to a Cooper D since they didn't have a regular Cooper in at the moments and told me to take my time testing it.
I was pleasantly suprised at both the car but especially the engine. Figured it wouldn't be much power in it but the torque was plentiful, didn't have to downshift at all when overtaking. The car itself felt like a much more "mature" car to drive than my previous Mini. Suspension was still stiff but it handled bumps in a much more refined way. Another thing that also struck me was how quiet it was (maybe the old model was as well? I've gotten to used to the fiat).
So I went back and he asked me what I thought about the car, and also if I would want to get my Fiat evaluated for a trade in and also test the Cooper S, which of course noone could resist right?
Went out for 40minutes in it and wow, I love that car. Handles good, great comfort even though it's that stiff, plenty of power and the all those burbles and bangs from the exhaust note really brought out my inner child again!
So I went in and somehow a short while after I had signed up for a lease on the cooper S
Haven't been to fond of the idea to lease before, but due to me being 24 and living in Stockholm the insurance is really high for a Cooper S, and with the lease insurance is included which actually makes it quite a lot cheaper than having a car loan.
Went with a Volcanic Orange Cooper S with black roof and side mirrors, black 17" Cosmos Spoke Black wheels, Chilli package and a few other bits. Didn't go with the big screen in the middle which I think is a beautiful touch, but to much hassle to use.
Will get it in the middle of January, can't wait!
