Parked in a dark, multistorey carpark today (first time I've seen my LEDs ...huzzah).
Anyhoo ..... pulled in my mirrors, locked up and walked away.
FIVE hours later ...come back and think...how come my mirrors are out...and my drivers window is open about 4-5inches!!!! Argh .....cue blood running cold!

Methinks I've been fiddling with too many pesky settings! What have I checked/unchecked to make it do that? I'm 100% certain it wasn't like that when I left....did it 'know' I was approaching??

I'm thankful it was still there really!!

Anyone shed any light on this?

That is very odd. I have found my car with both windows down and unlocked, but it was on the drive and I had sat on the remote:eek:. Just seems strange if you were not around and it only rolled down the drivers window.

As palgt1 said I think someone else may have had this happen, but can't remember who it was

Should I mention it to the dealer?

I'm hoping it was a one-off (or driver error) but concerned about the car security obviously!

How does the key fob interact with the car? Is it possibly interference from someone else's key fob as they operate their car? I just thought there would be lots of signals in a car park...

I did find a thread about both windows opening and the suggestion was accidentally holding down the unlock button as you store the key fob... but that would be both windows.

I would say wait until it happens again at least once more, or the dealers will not be interested.
You can certainly mention it but wouldn't expect much action after just one occurrence which could have been self inflicted.

I wonder if there is a "reset to default" procedure in the central software in case it gets messed up.

My pet gremlin is that the ignition sometimes will not switch off unless I slightly turn the steering wheel. It happened three times so I have reported it, but it is not an issue like windows opening by themselves. Both gremlins sound like software faults and should be easily fixable by an update, once they get round to it.

Just thought, it could be interference from other vehicle remote controls as said earlier, or even mobile phones. Who knows? Must not happen though.

If this happens with any likelihood then I'm sure dealers would have seen it with their demonstrator cars... if they have they should know what to do.

I did more reading on the internet and similar problems with older minis seem to be due to dying batteries or water damage to the locking mechanism or "body control unit"... hopefully both not problems with a new car!

I seem to recall a feature where the driver's window opens to allow easier entry in a narrow garage. Could it be this feature activated accidentally?
Perhaps Olie....I can't see how opening the window would make a difference....and WHEN did the window open like that? Poses serious security issues.......

its the one and only time I've parked the car and left the windows folded in. I can understand therefore, how the car 'thought' it was in a tight spot.......

Oh gawd this doesn't sound good! (I read the other post too). It's obvs a security risk - but also, what if it was raining and the inside of the car got drenched?? Let's hope this is one off Donna :-/
