Oil change right after break-in period

Anybody who plans to keep his new F56 going for first oil change earlier than scheduled - just after say 3-5k km?

I have done it with my R class turbodiesel - not that expensive - but seemingly the best anyone can do for extended turbo engine life span - has anyone an opinion on this to share please?

One school of thought says with new engine manufacturing tolerances so precise nowadays and oil quality much improved it is not needed anymore - but still Mini suggests 2.000 Km break-in period - suggesting some metal chips might be around after it....so is the earlier oil change not needed at all or good precaution measure worth carrying out?

I am thinking I might change the oil at around 2,000km. I was planning to do it myself as I have done so many times before on other cars I own. Has anyone done this? Anything unusual about it?

No dipstick, no drain plug either. Ha!

Just kidding. Let us know if there's weirdness.
Someone on nam did it.they thought they had issues after as the oil check routine wouldn't work but it turned out they weren't warming the car enough before doing the reading so ,no they had no issues! It was fine.
So I've had my MINI since May 2014 and it has 9,100 miles on it. I haven't had any work done on it, and I brought it in to my dealer today for maintenance/oil change and they turned me away. They said they could not cover the oil change until the car recommended service (which is estimated to be in about 3,000 miles). Yes, I could play it safe, pay for the oil change every other time, but since I bought a brand new vehicle and have maintenance agreement for 3 years that I shouldn't be paying for these oil changes.
Depends how long you intend to keep the car. If you will want to run it to 100000 mils or more regular oil changes are a winner if you'll get rid after 4 or 5 years it's not your problem, but.........
Has anyone heard of the new Minis having a problem with the oil filter breaking while driving?? This just happened to my BRAND NEW less than 6 months old 2014 Mini Cooper hatchback. The engine was destroyed. The service center cannot yet tell me what caused this to happen, but I didn't hit anything in the road like a huge pothole or debris. I'm a bit miffed and wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue??
I had the same issue with my brand new 2015 last year, which caused the engine to fail. They said it was due to the oil filter recall, and tried to swap out a new engine to no avail. I ended up getting a brand new 2016 as a replacement (the configuration on the 2016 is different than the 2015, which resulted in little money exchanged at the end). I was in their loaner car for 2 months before they figured out they couldn't fix the car, which sadly went to a local auction. You should be compensated for it. They initially only offered to pay for 2 months of my financing payment, which was only $500 in total (I put down half on the down payment), but we fought for a new car. Good luck!
