I have just recently acquired a 2007 mini cooper s works but after some driving was alarmed at some new engine noises I was hearing.
Especially when starting from cold, I was told when I purchased the car that it had just had an oil change & service & was only at 63,000 kms. When I checked the oil on the dipstick, (stupid to read), there was none to be seen! I added a full 1 litre of synthetic oil & still could not see exactly where I was on this stupid dip stick. The point is the added oil cured the horrible engine noises, but why did the engine oil light not come on? Exactly how low does the oil have to get before the light comes on? What damage might it have done already to my engine? How much oil does a low mileage mini supposed to use when driven by a docile female?
Thank you to anyone who can shed some light on these concerns of mine.
