Will be ordering new MCS in just over a week, spec complete except for one thing.

I need the reversing camera option because of a neck injury. To spec the camera you must have either rear parking sensors or park assist specified. Has anyone got park assist?

Does it work?

Is it for parallel parking only or can it help with reversing into a bay?

Is it worth the £300 odd over and above the rear sensors alone?

Appreciate any comments, good or bad!

Thanks

I have the rear camera and park distance. The camera is great. Not only shows everything clearly whether in day or night, but also has the added feature of showing lines where your rear is going when you turn the wheel. The park distance appears to beep and indicate on the image obstacles that you want to avoid.

Here in the states, rear cameras are supposed to be mandated eventually, but I'm not sure when that takes full effect.

Hi, I have Park Assist as I wanted front & rear sensors. It will only parallel park the car and it does a great job of it. The sensors visual display changes colour the nearer you get to an object and it turns red and screams while there's still a couple of feet to go.
It may be a small car but the corners of the car are hidden so in my opinion it was worth the extra. I also got folding mirrors which can aid parking as the nearside one can be set to auto dip down when in reverse, definitely prevents kerbing of the black alloys.
Better value than some of the other options but then it may also be an age or generation thing!

Many thanks to you all for your help, another item for the options list!

DaveT.....nothing wrong with age or generation, at 66 I need all the help I can get. After 3 years of driving a Toyota Yaris I'm really looking forward to the MCS.

Park Assist will only parallel park, but it does a pretty good job once you get down how it works. I originally got it just for the front parking sensors (and because my option ticking hand can't be stopped...), but I love wowing people with the auto parallel parking thing.

I have the Park Assist in my Mini and tbh it works about 90 percent of the time...so that's pretty good. it also does a good job at parking the car since i got no scratches on my black alloys yet. I'm pretty happy with having the sensors and not the camera but I keep wondering what advantages would the camera bring since the sensors are really easy to use and accurate.

Auto parking - forget about it. I have it (it came with the car). I have NEVER used it. A total waste of money. Unless you are Eleanor Holmes Norton.
