Does anyone know what this is? Only see it on left side. I don't have factory xenon or LED.

My guess is that it is the bowden cable doohickey* shown in the top left of this parts diagram:

Item 4 is called: Bowden cable, engine comp. lid, rear

*Don't embarrass yourself by asking what a doohickey is - just nod knowingly and pretend you've always known what one is....

Looks like it's part of the hood opening mechanism. Probably the part that un-latches the hood when you pull the hood lever

The black box with the small black tubes coming out is part of the hood release. The first pull of the release unlatches the drivers side and the second pull unlatches the passenger side, this box is what makes the second pull unlatch it.

That's for responses! From the way it's mounted, seemed like an afterthought.

"Oh hey John we forgot to mount the dohickey! I'll just stick it here."

By the way thanks Joe for that additional insight. I didn't deduce the two pulls were unlatching separate parts.

Please see previous comment about embarrassing oneself - not being able to spell 'doohickey' is only slightly less serious than not knowing what one is. I see 'dohickey' is also considered acceptable, contrary to what I think, but you'd never get a bonnet open with one of them.

Personally I think "thingumybob" or "dooda"are better descriptions to use for defining "a small object or gadget,especially one whose name the speaker does not know or cannot recall"
