Am reading that the 80% isn't relevant to our minis as BMW have built that in due it's short range. Part of it's bms?

The Youtube Channel EVM (Electric Vehicle Man) is quite good for telling it how it is with electric cars. The guy has been running an electric car for over 5 years (started with a Leaf now on a Tesla and his in-laws run a Renault Zoe). He also gets to review a lot of the new EV models when they come out.
