Hi

Did anybody get to the bottom of this fault

Just today, the wife's 2015 (none satnav) F56 cooper display is in a constant reboot loop. Approx every 10 seconds, the radio will be on and playing ok. Then it will goes off, then a few seconds later it displays Mini.
I've tried to update the software, and a reset. But it reboots to fast for me to carry anything out on it.

I don't know if it is connected with above fault, but all dab radio stations have disappeared. Ok on fm /am for a few seconds.
Hi ,Did you manage to solve this issue.Mini want to charge me £160 just for diagnosing then charge for whatever the issue is. Thanks in advance.

I am now having the same issue with my 2015 Mini and have an appt on Friday. Am out of warranty. Is a new display really required for this issue or has anyone else had a different fix?

Our 2015 cooper went into mini. They agreed to look at a goodwill gesture if it was more than a software issue. It cost £107 to have the software sorted and its been fine since.
I argued that warranty or not, every part has a reasonable life expectancy and 4 years for an expensive oyece of kit like this is not acceptible. Thay accepted this but the software fix sorted it

I took my car back into Mini and they now say that the software has been completely re-written to cure the re-booting. So mine has been re-loaded with this new version. Whether it works or not only time will tell.

My Warranty runs out at the end of the month!

I had same problem a few months ago 16 reg 3 door hatch. To sort out the garage updated the software which took 2 hours. The charge would have been £300, but I had an excess of £100 on my warranty so total cost to me £100. Hope this helps. They did check before hand that a software update was needed but did not know if it would work.

I have the same issue with my 64 plate Cooper D. Doesn’t have sat nav. Centre console is on continuous reboot every 30 seconds. Took it to a BMW specialist who conducted a diagnostic, couldn’t fix it. He spoke to the BMW parts supplier who said they are shipping 22 head units a month so it’s a known issue. New head unit was quoted at £1760+VAT. Taking it to the Mini dealer on Tuesday. Will update with any news.

Dealer had had vehicle for a few days. They updated software and have not been able to replicate issue since. Hopefully that fixes it. Thanks for responses.

Mini dealer fixed the issue by reloading the software on the media centre. £132 which is annoying but not the end of the world.Dealer said they are seeing a lot of these issues.

Our 66 clubman started this problem this morning and we have been quoted £99 for the diagnosis check. Shame that it is 2 months out of warranty as arguing with dealers is always stressful though it is our third clubman.

Try speaking to Mini directly or ask the dealer to speak with them. My local dealer told me that Mini are pretty decent when it comes to offering goodwill repairs just outside of warranty.

I haven’t had to test it out yet myself, but it’s worth a call. :)

I picked up my car yesterday and as I was driving home same issue continued when I was updating my presets. I took it right back and waiting to see if they are able to replicate and figure out.

Mini have charged me £122 for a diagnostic check and a software update (MV-130.026.001/ TV-130.026.001) All seems to be working fine

My 2018 Clubman screen was rebooting, I took it in and they updated the software and a few days later the rebooting returned. Every time it would do it I had my mobile ready and recorded video of it. I booked in again and gave my service advisor the five videos. They sent the videos to MINI who approved the $3,000 USD head unit replacement, the new unit arrived and the issue continued. Now the dealership and MINI are trying to figure out why. My dealership says this is the first time they’ve seen a new unit not fix the problem.
They gave me 2020 Clubman S in similar spec to my 2018 to drive around so it’s fine as long as they get it fixed.

This started happening to me about a month ago ... saw my center console start rebooting more and more. Mine was because it was battery related. My battery died about a month out.

Not sure why, but the center console in my 2016 JCW (controls navigation, audio, telephone etc) keeps rebooting, seemingly at random, sometimes many times in a row in a single day, sometimes not for a few weeks. When it gets bad, I lose all data such as stored navigation sites and bluetooth connection. I m now scheduled for my 4th trip to the shop in 6 months - they have updated and reinstalled the software twice and the last time even replaced the entire center unit hardware but STILL having problems!

I didn't post earlier since I thought it was a small problem that they would be able to take care of, but now that its been 6 months I thought I would put up a post to see if any other owners experienced this and if they found the cause or a solution.

Thanks in advance!
