I went for the standard cloth/leatherette black pearl carbon in my cooper s. Could anyone advise on what product I could use to protect or keep the cloth looking tip top. My previous cars had leather and I've no idea how to treat cloth.

Chemical guys http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/ do a fabricguard protectant which is the same sort of stuff the stealer treats fabric and carpets with. I have used it on 5 vehicles very successfully and it is certainly a blessing when my 4 year old grandson is on board.
Cost £9.99 and there is enough to treat 2 minis I reckon.
