Does anyone have the driver assistant in the UK? How well does the traffic sign recognition work?

After reading the PDF manual from the US website
http://www.miniusa.com/content/dam/...14/2014_MINI_Hardtop_with_Onboard_Monitor.pdf
I'm confused how it works in conjunction with navigation. Page 77 says they work together but page 78 shows a picture and says "With navigation system: speed limit detection is not available."

Does it still recognise speed limits while you're using satnav?

Thanks for any comments :)

My understanding is that it uses the sat nav database in conjunction with the camera to is play the correct speed limit.

It makes me chuckle as the primary school near me has had the kids to paint a big 20mph sign with the message 20 is plenty. The camera always picks it up as a genuine road sign and displays 20 on the dash and HUD.

In the pdf manual it says this is when the camera recognises a sign (page 77).

On the next page it lists about a dozen reasons why the information may be incorrect. One of them is "During calibration of the camera immedi‐
ately after vehicle shipment.", so maybe there is some learning time involved.

Maybe see if it happens next time you drive the same way?

Thanks Mark but slightly confusing as it was a clear stretch of road, no visible traffic problems and I had travelled down this stretch of road the previous day with no sign displayed !! Teething troubles probably

OK, other reasons it can be confused include rain, obstructions, close vehicle in front, bright lights, misty window, unusual other road sign.

So, any number of things really... but I would expect it to err on the side of not showing anything rather than a false positive.

One day I'll have my own to play with :)

Discounted all the above so it's a complete mystery - but will keep a close eye on any future developments
