I'm aware that many of us here have had rear shock/s replaced under warranty due to knocking, me included.

My rear shocks were replaced last February - at approximately 5000 miles after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing from the dealer before they found the actual cause of the knock ....Chassis Ears had to be bought by the dealer in order to locate the source.

Anyhow ..... I've now done 13.5K miles (approx. 8K on these shocks) and I'm almost certain it's started again!!! How can this possibly be?? Surely the second set haven't started knocking again? It's the rear driver wheel, same as before and the same knock.

I can't say I drive on abnormally bad road surfaces and encounter the odd speed bump....that I don't exactly fly over....

Should I go back to the dealer again? I don't want them to turn round and think it's me wrecking my suspension :( Should I look to aftermarket shocks? Are they better? I don't want the ride to be harder though....

Anyone else experience knock reccurance?

You should take it back to the dealer, and report a returning problem. I have had this before with an Audi A3, that used to kill rear shocks every 5-6000 and steering racks very 2000. Only kept the car for 13000, so don't know if the second replacement set lasted, but having the fifth steering rack (plus other faults) was getting a bit tiresome.

I definitely think you need to go back to the dealer-if you put aftermarkets on you're sort of relingquishing your warranty (and i could fully understand it for the inconvenience!) . if there is another shock fault they need to know and they need to be telling their supplier off for poor quality control for future owners etc!
HOWEVER there may be another reason this time; did the dealer tighten everything-is it a bush issue due to the fault y first shock perhaps-either way make them sort it Donna! (and make sure there' s nothing rolling round in the boot-my fire extinguihser was loose in mine!) Good luck and i do think you're having a rough ride with this one. hope they sort it quickly!
