Anyone have any information on this recall? Got the call last week and made took my 2015 F56 1.5L in for my appointment today but the service advisor didn't provide any details on what it was fixing.

After picking up the car, I confirmed that the software version number on the Settings screens had changed but didn't detect any differences other than that.

My car (2015 5-door) went in for a software update recently, although I couldn't extract much detail from them. They called it a quality enhancement rather than a recall, but the dealer said it was just the bmw code word.

Best I got was via email:
QEP: Program Control Units
"The quality enhancement on your vehicle relates to various controls on the vehicle including the air bag. It is not safety related."

At the dealer they didn't have any more info, other than to tell me I would normally have to pay to have the software updated (yet couldn't tell me why or what would improve).

Initially told it would take less than an hour, although they had to send me home after plugging the car in as computer estimated 8 hours and they were out of courtesy cars. I was too busy / forgot about it, until I broke down with a "drive chain error" a few weeks later, which they said would also be fixed by the same software update.

They had the car for a full day, I haven't noticed any changes.
