Is there still a run in period for new cars? What were you guys advised to do when taking delivery of your new JCW's?
If this is what BMW/MINI really mean then they should get their own house in order first because every dealership I've had dealings with their staff all drive like they stole it including customer cars..Does anyone ever read the manual? It states very clearly not to exceed a certain amount of revs or labour the car.similarly not to use brakes harshly initially though that's not easy in an emergency! There is a lot of opinion on the matter and its really interesting but these days cars are well made but the mini engine is not run till the car is complete and it is driven out the factory on to the transporter. Do the factory tour.(fab) Best run in cars according to honest john are those that experience a very varied regime but neither thrashed or laboured. Oil needn't be change as there aren't lumps of metal wearing off any more but if you want to it wont harm!
Personally I believe there is no reason the run in, I don't mean red line it everywhere but drive it how it is meant to be driven ..Is there still a run in period for new cars? What were you guys advised to do when taking delivery of your new JCW's?
That is why im very hesitant in buying dealer demo cars, they are usually driven very hard for short distances and not warmed up properly. If carsare going to fail, these would be the first. If this is what BMW/MINI really mean then they should get their own house in order first because every dealership I've had dealings with their staff all drive like they stole it including customer cars..
It's a demo and regardless how she may drive it they have punters who take it out and I bet a high percentage give it stick..I also totally agree with you cessa. But you do get some who are sensible.our sales lady did say to us ive got a ........as my car this time. Cant wait to get it run in then see what it can do!(think it was a JCW)
