I know the idea of storing valuables in your car is bad, but now and then I might need to do it. For example, I drive to the beach and go surfing. I can't bring my wallet, phone etc with me so I need to leave it somewhere.

In my old R50 I used to lock it in the glove box. The glove box could actually be locked with the physical key (which my F55 no longer has). I know the lock wasn't perfect, but it would mean a thief would need to spend an extra 5 or 10 minutes trying to break the glove box to get my wallet, and that was probably a pretty good deterrent. I left nothing else of value in the car and obviously nothing in view, and I felt like it was pretty safe to do it that way.

If somebody were to smash my window and try to grab and run with my new F55, would they be able to get in my boot, or is that pretty much impossible without the key? I ask because it might be a better place to put my things instead of the glove box from now on. Any other advice on a good place to hide things? Maybe it's best not to talk about it on the forum in case any criminals are listening, so you can always send me a PM if it's super secret.

I have the storage package so I put the important stuff there. Most people do not know that you can lift it up. If you do not have the package maybe get one of them fake soda cans. I bet "thiefs" do not like warm soda sitting in the cup holder.

or potato chips in the back seat get a flavor that nobody enjoys like Bacon/Sauerkraut :D:D

That's what I do. The rubber boot mat that hides the fact that the floor lifts up.

I have the storage package but not the boot mat.

How likely is it that a criminal could get into the boot? Does the boot release button work without the key if the car has been locked?

Jax, the trunk release handle is right below the hood release so yes it is easy to get into the trunk easy to reach too if you smash a window. :( But honestly if a thief smashes the driver side window I do not think they will take the time looking for the trunk handle. Remember most of them crimes a grab and go.

Too bad, I was hoping the trunk release had some sort of protection where it would only work in the presence of a key. Too bad. But you are probably right that they won't go rooting in the trunk if there were people around.

I use the following when I go surfing although haven't used on my F55 yet but can't see why it wouldn't work.

Where do you put that thing once you lock your keys in it?

I used to just leave my keys in the car and take the "valet key" which was small and waterproof in my shorts pocket. Now I assume I could take the physical key that pops out of the key fob for my f55.
