Hi guys I've recently bought a cooper I'm picking her up on Wednesday, I've seen the service history on the visual boost radio, I plan to service the car myself is there anyway I can input the services into the visual boost of is this a dealership only function?

It can be done but with a data cable, laptop plugged in the obd2 have a look on YouTube however if the car gets plugged in to MiNI or a specialist all of the service history will disappear, you would have to re enter all the data all the time.
Keep the invoices for the parts you've changed and thats as good as can be. In my opinion if the car has full MINi history keep it as such or at least a specialist from a value point of view self serviced is the same as no history.

I'm sure MINI used to sell you an old fashioned service book. Not sure now. As a buyer, I prefer the service book/receipts approach.

You can buy a generic service book from ebay for a couple of pounds.
For my MiniI I intend to just keep all receipts and fill in the service book. Usually by the time I sell my cars it makes no difference to the price I get as long as I have a full service history and every garage I have sold to in the last 40 years has accepted my signature against each service. I have always carried out my own services/repairs once my cars are out of warranty and will continue to do so until I run out of 10mm spanners.
I may programme my own service info on the display at sometime in the future as it looks easy but I will still keep my hard copy service book up to date.
It's personal choice and your capability whether you use Mini main dealer, Indy or home.
