Just in case this affects anyone...the last thing you are going to think about when ordering your Mini in the UK is the licence plate, but if you you have strong views on your plate having a blue EU/GB part, then make sure your dealer is aware or you might not get what you want. I assumed all modern plates come with EU details; they don't.

Dealer didn't ask and I didn't specify...a silly oversight. They are kindly replacing in the near future, but simpler just to make your preference clear.

Does it make any difference whether you have the eu/gb part or not on the number plate.
If you never take your car abroad, no. But in theory you need either the blue GB bar, or a separate GB plate, to drive elsewhere in Europe. I think in practice no-one cares, since the yellow rear and GB font identifies it as a British car to any police force.
