Just had a wee look on the UK configurator.

Blazing Red (my colour) and Moonwalk Grey are now a full price colour option at £475. When I specced my car these were £250 as they were seen as semi-metallic.

This extra price in such a small car really is a joke. All paint colours, except some special edition colours with a high flake content really should be free.

Has anything else gone up by almost 100% in price?

metallic prices

I quite like moonwalk grey, but if buying new I would rather spend the £475 on other extras to make the car individual. As it is I bought a demo in the colour and spec I wanted Volcanic orange.

I think it's just the nature of business - to make money.

Bonnet stripes cost $0 when selected as part of the Sports Package for US-spec but they are now a $100.

I may be wrong but the Chilli pack now seems to add Visual boost to the pack on the UK configurator. The Chilli pack price stays the same at £2250 but the overall price seems to have gone up too

Yup, you are correct.
My moonwalk grey F56 2015 bought in July 2015 I paid $295 CDN, now like you say, I just check my dealers website and the new price for this semi metallic colour is NOW $590 CDN.....wow...not even a metallic color and is now configured as one. Ouch !!!

I saw that a few items had been increased in price on the UK configurator, but my memory is useless so I can't remember what ones precisely, but you've confirmed to me my suspicions that the paint prices increased.

I went for BRG, so I was paying full whack for my paint either way.

This is why I upgraded to Vehicle Replacent + on my GAP insurance. I get the value of an EXACT replacement despite price increases.....

and anyhoo.....does it matter if things are going up? They will do, year on year. And perhaps MINI needs to recoup the vale of all these gearbox and engine replacements ;)

Base price

I knew that the base price of $20,990 CDN was too cheap when I saw the F56. Actually the price dropped $4,000 from ( $25,000 ) the prior generation for a much superior car. Now that was a huge drop in price. The price was too good to be true. I also feel that it will not stay that cheap much longer. Rather than raise the base price, they are smart to raise the price of features and options instead. Very clever marketing in my opinion. And if they don't get their money on the front end, they will make it up on maintenance, that is for sure.

I wonder if I got that. I was told be the sales guy that I get the price I paid, no matter what I owe. Minus the insurance pay out, of course!

That's not the same. I took GAP from a third party ....."what you paid" almost certainly WON'T cover the identical car again 2 or 3 years down the line. My GAP covers inflation.
