Got my car back from the dealer this aft with a working sunroof after they swapped out the control module. Yesterday they told me they were waiting for a software patch or update from mini to encodecthe module. On the drive home today i noticed a couple of changes.

Firstly spotify is now fully supported, with steering wheel track selection, which was definitely not working previously, and album art display is now working correctly, updating as tracks change.

Secondly, and admittedly based on a limited sample of one, sms notification is now working on my iphone 5.

Ive just been out and taken note of the software versions in the car settings, can anyone verify their version numbers?

Not available on the mini.com/connectivity site... I hope mine comes with it preinstalled when I pick it up!

Of course, IOS8 due for release in Sept will probably break compatibility again! So enjoy it while it lasts! ;)

I took delivery of my Cooper, with Media Pack XL, Mini Navigation System XL & Enhanced Bluetooth, last week, and it was built on 16th July, with software as follows

Media: MN-002.045.001
Phone: TN-002.045.002

On the surface, my software looks to be older than yours i.e. your 'MV' is later than my 'MN', and your '010' later than '002' (unless they have a completely numbering system): or it may be that MN is software for cars with the in-car drive, and MV without?? They don't make this easy!

The in car info screen says to check mini.com/connectivity for software updates, but the only one there is from 2013, so I can't imagine that would be correct.

Would be interested in your thoughts before I start pestering my poor Mini rep again.

Some questions regarding software updates: Besides critical fixes

What is the frequency of software updates of the (control module) system (not map updates)
Any experience with previous models / BMW.

Does Mini do update automatically or do you have to pay for these every time (not map updates)

I was just wondering about this today. I wonder if different regions have different software versions? Mine was built on July 6th, I believe, and has the following:

Media: MV-010.006.019
Phone: TV-010.006.019

Does anyone know what most current software would be? I'm assuming that Hat's version is newer than mine, but it would nice to have that verified. I hate bothering the dealer if the info is online.

Sorry if this is a double posting.

There was a post about this a while back. I think we all concluded that the software version is dependent on both your region, your car and your spec. Hat is in the UK so wouldn't have the same software versions as you do... I wouldn't read anything into the 010 vs 012.
Mine differs from Hat's (although I am also in the UK) because I have a Cooper with Media XL, and I think he has an MCS without Media XL.

BTW the info isn't really online. Someone else has offered a link to the Mini Connected page, but the update there is dated January 2013, so I wouldn't think that 'updating' to that is going to help anyone. I think the whole Connectivity thing was over-hyped by the Mini sales people: if everything is working on your car I would suggest leaving well enough alone.

Yes, I agree about it being over-hyped... especially the android support! Luckily not an important feature for me, but I think people expect software to keep up as new phones and phone OS versions are released.

You might try this link instead, which was suggested in another forum post:

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/co...mobile_devices/bluetooth_software_update.html

If you enter the last 7 digits of your VIN it should tell you if you need an update. The MINI is just a BMW after all, and I confirmed that there is an update for my car(although I haven't got around to installing it yet: part of me doesn't want something else to stop working as a consequence!)
