Hi all, I've recently ordered a JCW hatch and hoping for delivery end of April. I was quite an active forum member on TM when I had my previous R50 Cooper and R55 Clubbie S but I've been away in an Audi S3 for the past 3.5 years.

Looking forward to sharing all your experiences of the new F models and looking around I recognise a few user names already.

Simon.

Yep you've got it, it even managed a feature in Modern MINI about 4 years ago. I saw the CR has closed, I assume Brett moved on.
Unfortunately my flying days are over so back on the road as a Paramedic.
How are you finding your Cooper hatch compared to the works clubman?

Welcome to the forum, the F series is distinctively different than the previous minis. The high speed handling and power increase are the most notable, but there are other improvements as well. I miss the darty quick response of the R, but it is a worthwhile trade for the high speed handling. With a few modifications you can produce 270ish wheel horsepower if that is what you want. Paint is not as good, but most auto paint quality has suffered switching to environmentally friendly paint. I do love the F and after 5,000 + miles I definitely believe it is the best mini yet, a true hot hatch. The factory runflats are well, still runflats and a good grippy softer tire will make a big difference in noise, performance, and ride quality.

Brett has a Mondeo Est, looks good though, I guess with a little one he needed something bigger, so dropping out of the MINI scene he is now into running. Dan & Iain took over running CR but now it's just a FB group.

The Cooper engine is totally different to Coopers of days gone!

If you haven't tried one then I'd say give one a try, not far of a R53 :)

Thanks for the welcome and it certainly seems you guys are very happy with the new models.
As for spec I went a little OTT on options but I ended up getting a fantastic deal with Cotswold Hereford.

JCW hatch 6MT
Chili red with black roof/mirrors
Chili pack so dinamica JCW seats and 18" Cup alloys with Runcraps
Media pack XL so Nav XL and enhanced Bluetooth and USB
Tech pack so HK audio, HU display, reverse camera and MINI connected
Variable damper control
Heated seats
Heated windscreen
Pano roof
Roof rails and bars
Sun protection glass
PDC rear
Chrome line interior
Interior trim piano black
Colour line glowing red

I've also made a list of JCW PRO accessories that I'm going to get the dealer to fit before collection
Floor mats
Rear view mirror cover
Wing mirror covers
Key fob cover
Front splitter extensions

I can't wait to get it and I'm hoping it turns out to be as good as I'm expecting.
