PLEASE HELP!

we’ve had an attempted theft a couple of days ago and a very lucky escape, thankfully the thieves left without any altercation though they got in the house while my wife was home… I’m so angry! 🤬.

I need some deterrents. Aside from changing the locks & increasing our home security all around which we’ve already done, I’m stumped on how we can make our car less desirable to thieves.

We tried a whole host of steering wheel locks and they are unwieldy… disclock, stop loc pro & elite, and others besides… ended up scratching the logo on the wheel or setting off the horn or taking ages to get them on and off… so I’m looking for an alternative solution.

Exterior wheel clamp is no good.. too awkward for my wife and in the winter a nightmare.

So I’m wondering if a handbreak and gearstick security device exist and does anyone have any recommendations. (ours is an auto & has a JCW steering wheel)

I also looked into ghost immobilisation… would invalidate our warranty and perhaps trigger electrical issues I can do without…

Really Looking for a visual deterrent and something that may put off the regular opportunist in the event the fob gets cloned…

Nothing we can do if they are determined but after our scare can’t help think they’ll be back 😤 🤞

Sorry to hear people got into your house. Not very visual but I read an article the other day about pedal locks - might not be as unwieldy as a disklok? I’ll try and find the article again.

You’ll want some sort of security camera which alerts you in real time. We have Ring cameras so we get alerts and can play the siren if needed. I also have a Disklok as a visual deterrent.

I think you can also get motion sensor dash cams which start recording if there are disturbances near the car - not tried this myself but could be an option.

Thanks @JB17 taken all the necessary precautions will never be sure if it’s enough but have to be pragmatic.. unfortunately. Still lucky we just got away with just the scare and have taken the lesson for it. After trying several wheel locking devices we settled on the Disklock which we are now used to and it’s not so cumbersome and does not scratch or scuff the wheel 🙏
