6 things you may not know about the F56:


1. The LED headlights come complete with heat sinks and cooling fans.
2. With the Media/navigation XL you can view two different maps side by side (e.g. 3D satellite view and standard map view at different scales). You also get buildings in 3D in places such as central London.
3. The B-pillars are wider than those on the R56.
4. It's possible to fit two bedside cabinets in the boot, when the floor is lowered and the rear seats are angled in their most upright position, and yes with the boot shut.
5. You don't need to specify the Harmon Kardon system to get big woofers under the front seats.
6. It's possible to play videos in the car - a number of different file formats work.

I've got a couple:-

iPhone works fine with the apple cable, you don't need the y cable pictured in the accessory brochure

Steering wheel controls don't work for track selection if you play music via spottily on your smart phone, you have to use the stereo controls instead

Exhaust pops and burbles best when warm and in sport mode

40mpg + is quite easy to achieve, surprisingly

I don't have the HK system and I have big speakers under the front seats.

I think Media Pack (XL) gets you the speakers under the seats but Visual Boost doesn't.

This is pretty hilarious. Now I think that I might take it out for a trip just to see how quickly I can kill the fish.

I CAN use my steering wheel controls to move tracks in spotify. It's slow and you cannot change to a different album or playlist though.I can definitely move fwd and back tho.

Visual boost DOES have subwoofers under the front seats.


You can make the air vents blow hot air on both hands as you steer in the winter.

MP4 format for the vids.
I play vids that are on a USB drive and plugged into the socket.
I have the media XL pack

I was told that visual boost adds a pair of speakers and we were disappointed that we didn't add this option but my wife's cooper has speakers under the seats and two in the doors (non in the rear though) and it's that basic radio option.
BTW I've put some photos in the garage section.

Basic = 2 door speakers 2 subs under seats, vis boost adds 2 rear speakers in passenger area,-6 total, hk =2 centres, 2pillar tweeters, 2 subs 2 front _door speakers and in the rear two mid speakers and two tweeters powered by a 400 watt amp.
