$900 is very steep. I have the misfortune of having to commute into Toronto, which has roads comparable to the 3rd world. I hit a large pothole with my Accord after only having the car for 4 months. The tire blew immediately and the rim cracked. Total replacement cost was $1100 and another $300 for servicing the alignment and suspension. Took roughly 5 months for me to get a cheque from the city and even then they only covered the tire and rim.
If you do end up getting it, and by the end of the 4 years it remains unused, just drive over a bunch of nails and you've got yourself a set of brand new tires
