My 2015 MCS came with Dunlop Maxx 205/45/17 run flats. I have decided to go with all season 215/45/17’s and narrowed it down to Goodyear eagles or Pirelli P zero all seasons. I’ll get a spare and jack for planned 2,000 mile road trips. No more run flats as the car will “skip” with cornering and hit a small road crack, like on an exit.
I need all season as living in the Rocky Mountains the day temps, especially in winter, can go from 60F to 20F in the same day and black ice is a problem in shaded areas. 30 degree temp swings are a daily occurrence. Summer temps hit over 95 with road temps extreme due to sun/altitude.
In the 90’s I had Pirellis on my Porsche and had problems with them “wearing “out of round”. Could have had them shaved but just replaced them. I had Goodyear eagles on my wife’s 2003 Mini and they were great. She has Hankooks on her 2013 Coupe and they are OK, not great.
The tires I narrowed down to are Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Season. Any reviews/experience would be appreciated to help me decide.

HD I just installed Yokaham S Drive tires on mine. Love them!!!! The car handles so much better. I am not a big fan of the Pirelli at all. Now if you get ice/snow than of couse the S drive is not good for you.

The S.drive ("Sport drive") radial is Yokohama's Ultra High Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The S.drive radial is designed to use Yokohama's technological advancements to deliver extraordinary grip and handling on both wet and dry roads. Like all summer tires, the S.drive radial is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The S.drive radial features Yokohama's micro-flexible tread compound developed using nanotechnology to produce a silica-based compound that maximizes contact between the tire and the road enhancing grip in wet and dry conditions. This advanced compound is molded into a directional tread design that features independent shoulder blocks, notched intermediate ribs and a continuous center rib to maintain constant road contact and improve cornering stability. Wide circumferential grooves with angled groove walls optimize cornering traction and evacuate water to resist hydroplaning while groove-in-groove technology (tiny scores on the groove walls) distributes the stress loads to promote more even wear. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by jointless nylon cap plies and belt edge strips to enhance ride uniformity and high-speed durability.

Got 4 new P zeros on in september. Only done about 1k so far. Haven't really pushed them yet but pretty good. Have put some 16s on for the winter now and to be honest the ride isn't that much better than the 17 inch P zero. The 16 inch Michelin energy saver tyre is definitely quieter though.

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on my JCW and I am very pleased with them. The miserable Dunflops had an inner lining tear on the right front after a few runs on the Tail of the Dragon. I am putting Continentals DWs on the corvette as they are the only non runflat that will fit. I had them on a CLK and they are good driving tires with a lot of traction and a fantastic ride, but tend to be short-lived. The Goodyear Eagles have decent reviews.

Here is a link to a Car and Driver Review of their top ten performance tires.

Davyboy,
It's a stock size and less expensive. The rims are 7" wide and the tires are speced for 7-8" rims. A little wider is better from my experiences. Perhaps are slightly less fuel efficient but better handling, especially cornering.

I was toying with going to the 215/45/17 on a stock wheel also. For those using 215's there aren't any issues with rubbing etc?
That's the size I had installed on my Tentacle Spokes when I ditched the run flats. It was close, but didn't rub. I stuck with the same size when I changed to the Neuspeed RSe05 wheels which have a different offset and more clearance.

Update, I went with the Goodyear F1's. I ordered them directly from Goodyear, the price was very competitive plus I received a $160 rebate. Initial thoughts: By far a much better tyre than anything Mini offers from the factory. Better ride, grip, feel etc... Consider the F1 asymmetric if you don't mind switching from a runflat.

Thanks Peter! What size did you go with?

Merry Christmas!

I wish I had thought of it at the time. I have a 20% discount code I could have PM'd you. I built Goodyear tires for 12 years before retiring for the last time and still get discount codes every year. I think I still have one left that someone in the USA could have. PM me, but only if you're serious. The codes I have expire 12/31 and i won't get new ones until February and most of those are spoken for.

I'm running this size but on a 7.5 ET 43 BBS wheel
Just rotated front to rears at 20k, loads of tread left, will get past 30k easy

Ran these also on my r53. Never got these sort of miles it out of them but that car had a little more poke, ;)
Good alround tyre for the money
