Hi everyone,

I am in the process of purchasing a 2017 clubman S and so excited!!! There is 1 year left on the MINI certified warranty and I am deciding whether or not to purchase a premium certification extension for a few years (likely the lifespan of the car in my hands). I am wondering whether this is actually worth it, it's pretty pricey and doesn't cover everything everything everything so I want some advice. Let me know what you guys think!

The only car I bought certified warranty for was the X5. Mostly as it covered pretty much everything and the car was hysterically expensive to repair - even at £1100 a year cost, I paid it. For a Mini, unless the gearbox or engine is borked, I cant see the costs being huge. I would put aside the cost of the warranty each year until it you sell the car. Then you have a pot to use for repairs, and if unused, can be a deposit for the next car. My rube of thumb for a car is, if it costs more than £1600 a year to repair, dump it and buy another.
