Trouble with digital speedometer

Hi everyone

I just got my 2015 Mini today - base model with the essentials package. I love it, however having played around with it a bit I have a question about the speedometer. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to display the digital kph reading on the instrument cluster - is there even one?! I can't imagine this kind of car would NOT have this option! Have tried pressing the little button on the end of the left stick but it only provides me one option for the engine...other than that I can't change the display at all. Not the time, not the temp, not anything! Anybody know what I'm doing wrong??

You can try going into the "system setting" on the Center instrument. I can choose to hide some of the information under the settings such as date, reminding mileage and etc in my car.

Has it got the "on board computer" option in the first place. I had a loan car and it didn't have that option. However I am sure if you go in setings you could see if those options are disabled. For kmph, go in settings and under units change mph to kmph.

Wow I didn't even realise it was an option...I would have thought most new cars, especially Mini, would have them automatically. Guess I don't have it then! That sucks.
Yes it was a option, normally available within a pack, to retro fit would be very expensive and personally not worth it..

It would be cheaper to buy a cheap satnav that displays speed, not the same I know but far cheaper...

Are you sure? I thought the on board computer was standard on the f56?

The OP does have the on board computer, he has the button on the indicator stalk. Try playing with the settings to try to enable it. If this doesn't work, perhaps you need software reloaded - speak to your dealer.

On the ONE & Cooper you need to add the Pepper pack to get the On Board Computer...

I don't have any packs on my Cooper and I have the OBC David.
Looks like the retro fit is just a code.

"This optional equipment can only be
retrofitted using an IBAC code which is
generated by BMW Headquarters
(Important: IBAC code only valid for
30 days from generation):
- Order the specified part number.
The required coding will only be sent
when you enter your e-mail address
in your ordering system."
if it is there you go into the menu, vehicle settings, cluster display then tick every option-that way you get a scrolling (when you press the end button left stalk) from memory so not order correct, of date, temp, range let, mpg , instant mpg, average speed and actual speed-annoys me-huge digits-look cheap! )Glad i have my head up display!

I agree with this. It was an option on the r56 but my understanding is that it is standard on the f56 in the UK.
This image, if it works, shows that the on board computer is standard on the ONE.

OP, more info is needed. What year/model MINI do you have? What country are you from?
Strange as it's listed in the pepper pack....

ON-BOARD COMPUTER £ 0
ADDING THE PEPPER PACK WILL ALLOW YOU TO ADD THIS OPTION.
RETURN TO PACK

At the touch of a button, the on-board computer displays such information as average speed and fuel consumption, the distance from the driver’s destination, current fuel consumption, engine temperature and outside temperature. This provides the driver with an overview of all the key journey data at any time – for increased driving confidence.

MINI UK reserves the right to alter prices and specification without notice. MINI UK has made every effort to ensure the accuracy of information but does not accept liability for any errors or omissions.
Yes, it appears as part of the PEPPER pack but it isn't really anymore.

Yup! I've played around with the stalk and it only shows engine image & doesn't shuffle through the different options such as speed. Really sucks because I'm so use to looking down at the digital speed :( going to look in to having it installed with the code mentioned above, if not looks like I'll be using my nav!

2015 f56, just standard base model 3 door. I live in Canada

I have tried what you suggested and I don't have the "cluster display" option in my settings. It must be a country based thing because as others have said its standard in UK models - I'm in Canada, so perhaps different here ? Either way, I am going to speak with someone at Mini and see if a) I'm doing something wrong, b) there's something wrong with the car itself, or c) it's an add on

Ah...gotcha.

The Canadian Coopers do NOT have On Board Computer as a standard feature. (which is ridiculous....it one little software flag...) :(

I doubt the dealer can retroactively add it, but wouldn't hurt to ask.
