"We tried a 1 Series prototype fitted with the new water injection system recently at BMW's test track in Miramas, France.
In this spec, BMW's turbocharged 1.5 litre three-cylinder petrol engine is claimed to produce 215 bhp and 236 lb ft of torque.
At low engine speeds, the effect of the water injection process was barely perceptible. However, at increased pace around the test track's high-speed loop, there was greater smoothness and refinement to the engine at higher revs. This was in part because of the lower compression ratio, which in turn lessened the knocking effect."
